the vans which sit on the side of the road, do they have one camera in? ard they only able to monitor cars coming towards them or going away from them aswell? also whats the result for doing 75 in a 40...

It depends, they essentially have someone sat in the back with a speed gun with a camera attached. They are not automatic by any means, so in theory the operator can point the gun at either carriageway. However I have heard from a mate (who knows better than most ) that 25% of the evidence on the tapes gets thrown away because their staff simply can't process them fast enough to comply with the legal timeframe in which they have to notify you of the charge.

this was not an ANPR tax or insurance van, it was defo a speed one as i went past again.

on a serious note does anyone actually know if they would be able to get people travelling towards the front of their van? i know they point the cameras out the back window

yea and i drove past it facing forwards and then would have still been speeding as it was looking at the back of my car? would they be able to use this as evidence?

it was down the fifeld road mate, i was coming from maidenhead to windsor and it was on the last bend before the post box and pub , it was hidden!!

Anyhting 30mph over the limit is automatically court... 75mph during the day(?) in a 40 seems excessive to me so I suspect the courts would not be happy

no they can only get you coming towards them. reason being is becsuse you have to be able to identify what the the vehicle is, which when approaching it from the front u cant

If it's one of the newer kitted van they can get you going away from them or at least your plate. They use it for bikes etc.. as many were speeding towards the van and there was nothing they could do. so a camera is now linked up to the front windscreen and can get your plate when you pass. I don't think it will be set up to actually measure your speed from the front though.

i got caught doing simular speed a few years back

i got 5 points and a hefty 300 fine was ment to be a ban with me only having a liecense for a year
