last night was in asda car park. The car infront of me parked up then as i was waiting for a space, the car then reversed into me then went forward and reversed into me again.

The guy admitted fault, rang tesco insurance they said that i will still have to pay my £500 excess (only put it that high as i am only 17) even though i wasn't at fault!!!!!

I got a estimate from a body shop today and he said a new door a wing skin £800 - which the insurance probably won't pay and just class as a right off

I've spoke to the guy and he said that he will be decent enough to give me £250 to settle it without going to insurance.

My door has about a 3x3cm dint in which has flaked off the paint and created a crease. also my front wing has been hit out of shape.

Hoiw much would people estimate for a passenger door a front wing respray as im looking at getting new ones also the labour cost to trasfer the locking mechanism in the door over to mine and the door to be fitted??

I just need all the advice i can as im abit confused what to do.
My car is a Blue Corsa B R reg. 3Dr, merit which i payed 950 about 2 months ago.

Im looking to sell it in january and getting a newer corsa possibly C model. so i might just be looking for a quick fix as.

Any advice from people who have been in same situations will be great

Go through the insurance, you'll get your excess back.

Nice enough to offer £250 when it's 800 worth of damage

If it's written off it saves you selling it as well.

I'll get excess back when though haha
I don't have a spare 500 quid lieing about tbh!
Also it will be a right off if i did go through insurance.
I'm pissed off at the price as the damage is only superficial and very small

Any pics of the damage mate? Is it a metallic or flat blue?
You could get a door and wing from a scrappers and prep them yourself and get a friendly bodyshop to do a cash spray for you.

If they right it off you can buy it back and make a few quid out of it
If you're depserate for a car just go to the local scrap yard and buy a door and wing and paint them when you have the time and money.

Tell the old duffer you want £400 and pay £100 tops for a door and wing

if it does get written off, they take the excess money off that.

so you'll get £1000ish for the car minus £500 excess.
then when the other guy gets found at fault you will get your £500 excess back.

i've been in this position and they take your excess money then recover the costs from the other party.

i'd personally take the cash in hand if it's a small dent as your insurance will go up a lot when you declare that you've been in an accident, even if you're not at fault.

i've been in 2 non fault accidents and my insurance has been pushed up another £500 than what it would be if i didn't have an accidents.

Endsleigh told me that non-fault claims (as in claimed off 3rd party's insurance) dont push your insurance up

Anyway, as others have said, get the door and wing from a scrappy and take them to a bodyshop for spraying

grab the 250 notes from the coffin dodger. Get down to the local breakers yard, corsa's are ten a penny, chances are you'll get a door and wing for buttons. Might even find one the same colour if you hunt about

Plus insurance is such a fucking ball ache. Months of hassling them, I'd rather lose a couple of hundred to avoid that.

they will bump your premium up because apparently you are much more likely to be in another accident because you've already been in one.
