Had a letter through the post from sky saying im entitled to my "free" sky+ box for recommending a friend, says give them a call and arrange instatation for £60.
How hard are they to "install" i thought it would just be a matter of plugging in?

Think you need another cable from the dish for Sky+

Did you "recommending a friend" to get the "free" Sky+ box in the first place?
TBH for £60 dont be so cheap and take the offer.

They have to fit a second LNB to your dish and run another cable down for it. thats what enables you to record one program and watch another.

They run another cable from the dish so you have the two feeds coming into the back of the sky+ box. Not sure if they have to install something new on the dish or not.

Yeah thats just for the HD channels. Its also an extra £10 to have a second box with the same services (multi room) and £12 a month for the Setanta package!

i dont bother with multi room. i wouldn't mind setanta though as everytime a game is on that i want to watch it costs me about £30 by going down the local.

I dont think they charged me anything - but I was getting a HD box fitted at the time and with the multiroom it was an extra £20 a month they were going to get from me so would of shoved it up his arse if he tried charging me!

if you dont have sky+ or multiroom at the min chances are you will have a 2port LNB (little box on the end of the dish)
the sky engineer will install one of these for you and run the cabling as required.,,
the reason for charging the install is nit just that but ppl used to beable to just buy the box then when they did it wrong we had to send our engineers out anyway, and when the custs install them themselves they were no longer covered on warrenty

Whats the best thing for me to do to get my spare box set up upstairs? A friend said to me to pay to get it installed upstairs then cancel the monthly payments, then whenever you wanna go and watch sky in bed just take your viewing card with you, might consider it if its worked for anyone else?? As there is only me and the misses and we watch tv together
