I know corsa forum but just wondering peoples view on these two cars? looking into gettin one probably around January time. the ST would be the current model not the knew one comin out in October as i prefer the current shape....so views an opinions on each?
Mods? etc......
personal opinion is welcome

JamSport do some nice tuning for the ST150.
Don't know enough about the Suzuki apart from they don't look too bad - no idea on the tuning front.
I do know that the ST tax rises to £210 for 12 months in 2010.

Do you mean an old tin can Swift (1.3 Turbo job?) or the new shape ones? If you mean the old one it will be less reliable but when it does work more fun, possibly quicker and more raw in the corners. Compared the ST is a bit of a heffer but its got the reliability going for it.
If you mean the new Suzukis i have no idea

Thats a pisstake tbh  My 2.0DTi is £145 end of the month and only goes up £5 a year or something

Most powerful diesel fiesta is the 1.6TDCi, which has more torque but less BHP than the ST. You would need to go up to a Focus sized car (so Astra, 307, Golf etc) to get the same if not better power, looking at any 1.9/2.0TDi engine

yeah the new swift sport 1.6..yeah and those cars are a bit more pricey, well i would only want the golf and there a bit pricey.
does anybody know the tax for the suzuki? or where i could find out?

Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 is the same tax band as the 2.0 Fiesta.
But, the comparison isn't really right.
I would be looking at the 1.6 Zetec S (petrol or diesel) than ST150

yeah i looked at the zetec s, but they dont really seem all that, not that quick compared to other 1.6s.

My mate has a Fiesta ST, tuned to 195 bhp by Jamsport and lowered 30 mm on just eibach springs.
It handles like no other fwd car I've been in, just turns and grips really well, puts its power down well and stops well.
He was out on track in it on Sunday at Trax, taking it easy when it was wet but when it dried, he was surprising a lot of other cars out there.
I drove it for a bit on Sunday too, nd it is very easy to drive, soft pedals, good brake feel, and generally I really enjoyed the experience.
On top of all that, we averaged 35 mpg there and back, including two track sessions while we were there (the drive up was 36 mpg - after the two sessions, it was reading 18 mpg average, dropped from 36 mpg over 30 minutes after a 3 hour drive  )
As for the Suzuki, I like the look of them but as I've never been in one, I can't comment on them further.

ok, how much has he spent and what has he had done to get it to 195bhp?
yeah the mpg on the ST's is meant to quite good compared to that of the Suzuki.

The suzuki if you want to tune is very expensive, But you can Turbo, Throttle Bodie and Supercharge with all off the shelf items but they have to be imported via japan or singapore. They can be taken up to approx 200BHP with forced induction for about 2k. Parts are expensive if they need to be replaced also.

For his Fiesta he has:
Cosworth inlet
Cosworth cams
Milltek (I think) exhaust, including manifold, sports cat and rest of the system
BMC CDA carbon airbox
Custom written dreamscience remap
All in, I think about 4k was spent, although Robin or Broster may be able to give you a better idea of the prices.

you'll get about 28mpg average town driving in the fiesta st.
as has been said, lower it on eibachs and it's awesome down country lanes. i had the eibachs on mine and it's sublime 
the suzuki swift sports are pretty good too, both are good cheap cars.

My mates ST averages around 32-34 mpg for mixed driving. His isn't used for work though, just an evening/weekend car, so it hardly ever just sits in traffic and drinks.
He is selling up pretty soon I think, to buy a Focus ST2

He knows, his Dad has one - he got 28 mpg in the Focus on a drive along single carriageway at around 60 mph, shocking tbf
