These are the kinds of people who get into stupid debts because they have no concept of the value of money. Its the notion of 'daddy will pay for it'

Im a student and get no handouts from parents, whereas people I know have EVERYTHING paid for for them, including £100's of phone bills + they give them a weekly 'wage', infuriates me, not because they have the means to do it, but the example they are setting

A friend of mine managed to get herself in over £25k of debt which daddy paid off for her. She lives at home again now rent free and when she's got no money she'll get cash from either parents or grandparents

I've never had money of parents for nothing. Starting working at 16, worked ever since. Payed for all my cars, all my lessons, tests, tax, MOT's, parts, insurance.

Everything myself.

iv not had a hard life but dont suffer in any way if i want something i can pretty much get it but i always pay back anything bought, like an interest free loan, i was lucky enuf for them to clear my debts a few year back, again i paid back just interest free and wasnt a huge sum, does annoy me that they dont grasp the concept of money or get into the frame of mind like "if i cant afford mummy and daddy will"

i had a mate like that wasnt super rich but got anything and everything he wanted, moved out and in with his gf and soon found what the "real world" was like.

Not everyone who lives off of their parents can be branded into a neat little package like you have just done.

You can't feel agreived they came from privilidged backgrounds as I am sure their parents just wanted what was best for their kids and to have the things they never had.

Although they may not have a concept of the value of money one day they will have a shock whenthey have to maanage it themselves.

I know many people will borrow money off parents to pay off say an ill-advised loan, or if they lose their job and need some short term help. These arent the people I would classify in that group, its the people that on a regular basis use someone else's money and no regard to the value of it being worked for etc

When I went to uni; My parents paid for my accomodation - about £250 a month. If it wasn't for that, I'd have struggled to go. However, I never asked for a penny on top of that. Worked though uni and did upto 100 hours a week when I was back at home from uni. I ran a car, paid my own tuition fees and living costs.

I don't pay any board at home but my missus and I live between my parent's and my missus' mum's whilst we're doing up our house.

We had no financial help from Mum & Dad buying our house (Although, my final year's Student Loan went on the deposit) but I'm very grateful for the physical help I'm having off Dad to get the place done.

I also came out of uni with no debt other than student loan, I had cash in the bank and as mentioned the final years SLC loan towards our deposit. I think I'm good with money, to the point of being quite sad and having spreadsheets for everything; including a Mortgage calculator to work out how quickly we can pay it off if we overpay each month!

Fuck me you lucky fcukers...

I was paying £250 rent at home when i was 18..... My old man had the attitude of " you want it, you go earn money to buy it". I only earnt £800pm, with 45 hours overtime per month too, petrol to London every day, and a loan for my car and bike.....

So i was working at 11-12 onwards.

Paid my own lessons, own car, own holidays, in fact, my parents didn't really help me much at all, mainly as my dad was ignorent, and my mum couldn't afford to.

I have known lots of "public schoolers" who have no idea of what money really means, swanned through life, into uni, all paid for, straight into an upper class job on an upper class wage. No real effort, no value, hence no value of anything material. No sense of "pride" of working hard to achieve a goal.

If i want my Benelli, i've got to get a loan, or save for 3+ years. Others seem to myseteriously have the funds available at all times

Jealous, yup, very much so, i'd love to have some of my life paid for me so i can have a break and buy some toys for me for a change

My brothers g/f gets £250 a week spends off her mummy & daddy. She's a right spoily little bitch. Her punishment if she's done something wrong is to take her mobile off her She got a brand new mini for her 17th along with a private plate with her name on. She's at uni doing law, and says how "hard it is" - yeah right. What about the people who actually have to fund themselves? She doesn't know the meaning of the word "hard". She'll be one to grow up and have a great job, then talk of the struggle it was to get there. BULLSHIT.

Exactly, why the £50..

GO get a job like most students do.

No whinging, your parents want to help you how they can, its good they can afford to pay all this for you, but thats the difference, they CAN afford to, where-as most peoples parents can't. My GF brother has to pay all his stuff, my friends paid all theirs, none of their parents ever could afford another £300pm out their pockets.. God i'd be rich with that spare money

No offence dude, but thats EXACTLY what a rich person says,. I understand the value of money...

YEah, but the difference is, im worrying about pounds and pence to cover petrol, bills etc, and they are worrying about whether to buy an Armarni, or Gucci suit......

When you are student you are supposed to be studying, full time. It's easy to understand why some people don't work, but a job on the weekend doesn't hurt.

And Daimo, if you are so hard up then do something about it. Or maybe you just wish you tried harder at school, or spent less time working for pointless stuff and more time working towards a decent job.

I pay for everything myself, if i want something i save now. whereas before i did get a loan to pay for my first car which i had no choice about. My dad is very well off an doesnt do bugger all to help me, which in a way is beneficial but at the same time a pain in the ass, cause i have friends that there parents would do anything not to see them in trouble.

Very envious i guess as i wish i had something like that
