I'm at home recovering today, the op went ok, the gland was much bigger and deeper than they thought and my blood pressure starting dropping quite seriously at one point but I pulled through it.
Word of advice though, dont do what I did and opt for a local when they offer you a general, I was fucking terrified when they were tugging about in places that I didnt know they could reach
The gland is off for Biopsy now, I hope is all well when the results come back, I dont think their should be a problem though.
Swollen, Bruised, Stitched and very very sore today
Ben.

You opted out of a general anaesthetic? I'd go under every time, they can fuck about with whatever they want if im out for the count!

I dont like recovery after a general though, and I was naive about the operation too. It lasted about 50 minutes and they had to keep topping up my anaesthetic too coz it was painful.

Is local where you are still awake then? Ive never had to have an operation, apart from having a tooth out, where i was awake for that, VERY VERY weird feeling.....

They started nudging nerves in my neck and my face and tongue could feel it, at one point they pinched a nerve and it felt like they were pinching the middle of my tongue.
So operations they only do Locals, like Cataracts ops.

I wont be so ready to have a local over general next time i'll be honest.
The bloke next to me got knocked out under General, they took him to theatre, and they had faulty probes so they had to wake him up and send him back to the ward, he thought he'd had it all done but he had nothing done to him, his wife and him were shocked. Another bloke over the other side had an ECG and they lost the results so they had to do it again. Terrible service i'll be honest.
