Farm was broken into last night, everything gone. Between us we've lost several grand of saddles, bridals, etc, and a landrover. Absolutely gutted.

Why did they leave you with the other 9k that you tend to carry around with you in cash on a normal night out? Not that 10k would buy you many drinks or white shoes down there.

At the risk of sounding harsh here (not to Lynny but farms in general), they are gettign done voer because they ahve long been far too lacksadaisical in having pathetic security!!!! The stuff at farms, stables, yards etc is worth thousands and generally gets locked up by the kind of padlock youd used to lock a set of crappy old tools up with

You not seen security on farms then? It's pretty much non-exisant in most cases.
10 Ton tractor vs. roller shutter door.......pretty obvious whats gonna win.

I have never been to a farm where the tractors are kept in the sheds with the doors shut!!!

Its because farmers are tighter than a nun's chuff, they will only pay for high security AFTER all their stuff has been nicked
Bad for you though Alex

Right, this isn't a one off chance, this has been planned. Our stuff was properly locked up, but one of the locks broke couple weeks ago and they knew, They've opened the broken bit, and smashed the top door....couldn't tell the lock was broken just from looking at, still appeared locked. They've known exactly where everything is, and known what They've wanted. As for security, all the farm stuff is still there, and to be fair is in a locked barn, and pretty well secure, plus farmer would have heard it being stolen. The land rover was attached to a horse box, They've taken their time to take the horse box off properly without damaging it, but have left tools etc next to it. Farmer is gutted, as are all of us. All the horses are still here, but very freaked out. Every time i try to walk moscow up the field, he rears up and heads back to his stable. Quad bike was nicked from farm a while ago and never found, that was in locked garage type thing

We know the farmer very well, He's the most genuine guy. If neilm is online he'll back me up as he knows him. Just so glad the horses are all here. My Foal arrives in two days so got enough cost getting things for that

Happens all the time. We've been robbed in broad daylight before by gypos.

On of the times so gypos came up trying to sell us riding hats, we think they must have scoped the place out then and then come back later on.

Gypos have been suggested, but we're 99% sure these people knew the place, knew the inside of the tack room etc, hard to explain if you dont know the place, but the way it's been done. Possibilty of stealing to order by whats gone, 3 saddles left, and about 6 bridals....only bridals with certain types of bit etc have gone. All white numnahs left, black ones etc gone. Plus we dont understand why they didnt take the horse box since it was attached to the land rover, they've gone to the time and effort to take it off properly, and not cause damage....they had all the right tools with them to do so, even left some lying around. It's all quite odd. Everyone is soul destroyed, not just the money, but we feel violated that someone has gone through our stuff, but at least the horses are still here. I normally go up when i finish work at 1-2am, just to check over the place, last night I didnt so i feel so guilty. Had I gone up as normal I may have disturbed them or at least got registrations etc. Gutted beyond belief.

Its farming equipment mobby. Our Massey Ferguson wasn't even in a barn last night, they're doing the fields etc to get hay in for winter, plus grounding barley etc so all the main equipment is in use all day everyday, seems weird they ignored all this. All the wrapper for the bales has been damages, but thats just an £800 part jobby. Definately looks like steal to order kinda thing, a LOT of expensive stuff was left, like new rugs, boots etc still in packaging unopened.

Nope, no idea they knew the lock was knackered, knew the lay out of the farm, knew the tack room etc. Other thing is, its not actually a stables, riding school or livery yard, its a working farm with a few horses. Kinda place you have to know there's tack there. The farmer never advertises livery as he didn't want people knowing there's horses and therefore tack on the yard. Goina have to head back up there soon and not looking forward to it, athmosphere isn't good.

Who would of had access to the equipment previously?
Is it a riding school kinda thing that someone could have come up and scoped it out, or do you think they'd just been watching for a while?
If it's open to the public then you can narrow it down a bit i guess?

Nah no real public access, not a riding school or anything, just a normal working farm, in a small village, with a few horses on. None of us are wealthy so everyones panicing about buying new tack etc, looking at £300-400 at least. Goina keep an eye on ebay etc over next few weeks.

Maybe put the word out to anyone else in the area that you know has a Horse/Horses, that there could be people trying to sell stolen stuff and to get them to give you a call (take details etc...) if it happens.
If it's stolen to order though then it's gonna be pretty hard finding anything

I was thinking they were names of horses Then went on to think - why would someone steal a race horse cos they won't be able to race it anywhere without being caught

Or you might of been attacked and things would be even worse.
Yes you're gutted but items can be replaced, people being attacked can't be undone......
