On airplane landings, I get it really bad.......................how do you prevent it?

Go on holiday on Friday & I know im going to suffer big style!!

i get this, i cant get anythin to work, i have a blocked ear and built up pressure in my head on one side for the 1st three days of the holiday

I just squeeze my nose and try to breath out it, if that makes sense , Works everytime

Hmm, sometimes swallowing helps also. I sometimes get that buzzing in one ear like its lost pressure, feckin annoying

I had it really bad once I got pins and needles in my fod and had a migrane for the first 24 hours of the holiday it was awful

personally feels like someone is clampin your head and your going to start bleeding from your ears, so extreme but its how much it hurts, my ex never got it and could never understand why i made a big fuss, but it fucking hurts

Im the same...............2 or 3 days I get fucked up hearing & feel a bit funny. Other people dont get this & seem to think im at it!!

Tried chewing/sooking sweets, tried holding breath, tried holding hands over ears....tried almost everything tbh. Im on a bit of a downer knowing its on its way again!!

yeh i get it worse than most people... proper pain in the side of the head for hours / days after the flight. as described, like i'm bleeding from the ears.

Other people i.e. my family just go 'pop' and are fine.

yep, i get the same i dread landing for that reason, wasnt to bad landin back at home only ever at holiday destination, and never on lift off

It's bad sinuses that cause it. Try and be healthy before you fly - i.e. no cold or anything. That ought to help. Just try to keep on equalising the whole descent, which starts when the seatbelt light comes on, not when the captain says about 20 mins later

The one thing that works is.........

Making yourself yawn, and its safe too.
Blowing the pressure out can burst the ear drum.

If you sit there with an open mouth (i.e jaw on full lock) you will make yourself yawn.

If anyone reads this and does not try it at their desk i will be surprised.
