What car? surely it needs the AFM to run full stop otherwise it doesnt know how much air is flowing into the engine? (if on std management i guess??)

well technically the pipe with an AFM in is on BUT its the wrong way round and it pulls hard. so car runs fine with the AFM pipe on wrong way round =\

the pipe is on, but the wrong way round, if you look on the pic it has clips on one end of the pipe, this side connects to the airbox, i have it currently connected onto the pipe to the inlet

if it put it back round the correct way as it should be the car struggles and hesistates and wont go past 4.5k revs, when the pipe is on the wrong way round car pulls very very hard BUT idles a bit lumpy?

no, AFM is over a year old.

Then sounds like you need a new one

Have you tried cleaning it?
Spraying carb cleaner through it while reving sorted the problem I had with mine for a short time but then I had to replace it...

Some vag TDI owner take their AFM off. Then on the electrical connector they bridge the terminals with a resistor.

Result, ecu thinks engine is getting max air all the time and fuels like a badger.

yea it smells like its overfuelling. all i wana know is what risks this does to the engine? AFM is still plugged in, just turned wrong way round and car pulls fine.

You can't run a car without an AFM. If you unplug it, the ECU throws up an EML and replaced the sensor values with "guessed" values, to make the car driveable.

My guess would be it's dangerous the wrong way round, overfueling, rich mixture gunna burn something out?

CTS? and its pretty much the same on fuel, maybe a tad more then usual its using. i think i shall just leave it. if it blows up then it blows up.

ecu uses this data for fueling (as well as others)
