its about 20 years old and has just started getting lines on it, like stripes going down the screen, IT man was out today and he noticed it to and said it because its on its way out basically or has somthing around it causing it, we tried most things and nothing changes.

work wont buy me a new screen

because of the cost

im pissed off because thats a health and saftey issue! surely???
im at my computer from 8-5 , 5 days a week, minus lunchtimes maybe and the odd walk down to warehouse!
i think its what starts my headaches!

How is it health and safety? I mean how exactly is it either going to harm your health or put your safety at risk?!

"The constant refreshing of a CRT can cause headaches and seizures in epileptics. Screen filters are available to reduce these effects. A high refresh rate (above 72 Hz) also helps to negate these effects"

not to mention the ionising radiation and electromagnetic field

flat screen ftw

but i shouldnt have to buy one though!
even the IT man noticed it and said its on its way out he reckons.

there should be rule about old monitors in the workplace

why should some people here have new flatscreens and others have old crap monitors - someone find me some rules!

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) regulations, HSE wouldn't allow that a shite quality of picture like you describe...

Get a workplace assessment, that'll sort it out!

Just start complaining of headaches and say you think it's because of your monitor.

TBH it sounds like you have a case.
