Maybe some of you play golf and might be able to help me out.
Been playing quite alot recently and looking to upgrade my irons, as they are basically shit. Some cheap Donnay crap from Sports-Direct, already snapped the head off one.
Progressing quite well, even if a little wayward at times, but i thought i'd treat myself to some new clubs which hopefully move my game forward!
Can anyone reccomend a set for a intermediate/beginner player? And cheapest places to get them from?

Dont get none of this graphite shaft business with different flexes if you are only beginner. I don't get on with them and just dont think they are very good imo.
Get some of these

Mizuno or Callaway irons are good...expensive, but you could get used or ex demo irons perhaps
Make sure you get something with quite a large cavity back if you're a beginner - anything remotely close to a blade stay away until you're nearer single figures handicap imo...

No - but it'll make it easier, more forgiving, with suited irons

I've Just bought myself some Mizuno MX-25 irons and I'd say I'm about a club longer than I used to be. It's taken me a little while to get used to them but I'm so glad I made the change, my handicap has came down from 24 to 18 in the space of 6 months

I was the same with Mizuno's, played with my MP-30's for a few years - got my handicap to 6 with them Now i would never get rid of them

new clubs take a season or 2 to get used to.
I keep meaning ot get out more to try and take 6 shots or so off my game to take me to 12
think i should manage without to much hassle if i could just get out once a week rather than month

That means getting the clubs set up to suit your stance and swing.

No - thats tailoring...
Get clubs that are forgiving, i.e. deep cavity back irons, as opposed to blades/half blades...

i didn't want to pay anything when i first started.(still only piss about on the par 3 course).
i was offered a mixed set of clubs from an old work colleague. various irons, but they're all blades. was shanking quite often at the start, but that's expected anyway while you're learning.
I don't think the clubs will make you better so much as practise and just being used to whichever clubs you do have.

You not get your pro to re-shaft it quickly for the medal? I've been there before

I could but I'm planning on getting new irons for my 21st so I reckon its best to just get them now. Not sure what I'm going for yet.
I'm actually quite excited about getting new sticks so I'm secretly chuffed I won't be able to hit a ball for the next couple of weeks!!
My mum and dad are financing them aswell so thats an added bonus, said to mum last night would she mond bringing my present forward a few weeks, she said can you not just play without a 5 iron? women

Aye, graphites gash. I get too much whip, even with a stiff graphite shaft. feels like your golfing with a skipping rope
