A guy i know has just swapped his Cooper S for 1 and he says its faster than the Mini was.But hes known to be a bit of a blether.
His is the blue/purple colour with tints and coilovers and i have to admit it looks nice.
How would an XE corsa fair against 1??

i would of said the mini is faster. ST has a few more horses but is alot heavier.

a mate had one a while back before he got his impreza, apart from the fact there thirsty for what they are and the gear ratios dont seem to match the engine i think they are decent cars. good handling, decent seats(if you get the recaros) and they go pretty well so long as your not expecting to keep up with CTR's are 172's

Get a fiesta zetec-s 1.6 TDCI, remap, k&n panel filter and de-cat pipe and it will beat a fiesta st as the torque will be sure huge

I am wanting an ST170 too lol... not the quickest I guess but good handler and a good all round package. I'm 27 now so a Corsa is a bit of a gay thing to be seen in now haha... One of them is a lot more "grown up" than a 172 for the money despite the 172 nailing it on performance

My mum has one, I drive it loads, and its far from bland. Infact it was one of the fisrt cars I drove that made me realise Corsa were shit handling cars.
ST170 has a great chasis, great midrange and drive really well.
Drive one and you'll see what I mean, The normal Focus was one of Fords best selling car why? Beacuse they drive very well.
Dont get a VAG over one of these a 1.8t Golf is quite planly mundane and if you want fun out of it, it will cost you a remap and some coilovers.
Buy an ST170 which is a great car out of the box.
People say they are slow but it will still crack 135mph and has one of the best gearboxes i've ever used (Getrag 6 speed)

I got a Moondust silver 3dr ST170, by far one of the best cars I have ever owned. I bought mine modified (only subtle bits) but I love it!
Pro's:
Good looks
Excellent gearbox
Handle awesome as standard (mines on -30mm Eibachs)
Fun to drive
Quite good build quality (mine rattles abit now due to b-line)
Fast if you know how to drive them (seen 148 outta mine)
Cons:
Shite on fuel (£56 gives me 180 milesof hard driving, 220 mixed driving or 270 granny driving)
Dont look much different to Zetec models
They go through front tyres like mad (could be just me, I do 2k mile to a pair of fronts)
I got a XE Nova aswell which is much faster but I prefer the handling of the ST to the Nova, they also quite roomy which helps if you have kids (like me).
Best advice I can offer is to try one and see how you fair, mine for sale too

Such a rewarding car to drive and even compared to my 182 its a hoot to drive and you can feel the VVT kick too.
My mum stumbled upon a bit of a gem with a really rare luxury pack with special eddition recaros and a subwoofer
