have seen some FWD cars run in the 10s but they had wheelie cars and stuff like that and they were on DVD, never seen any run that fast before myself.
I know GAZ'D runs 11s and is normally the quickest of the day at PVS.. but is there anyone (doesnt have to be Vauxhall) thats quicker ??

I thought Chris's best was 12.3 in the nova?
Mine was a low 12 car when it was running

Having proper drag wheels the size that he did, im not suprised. I think i could have broken into 12's in a standard XE with those tyres on the front
Was never impressed by that car. 2.0 8v turbo, with shed loads of nitrous, and a properly stripped out, with citroen 2cv sized wheels on the back.
Compare it to GAZ NA Nitroused 2.0 16v, heavier shelled Corsa, doing a similar time...

I now own this engine How could you not be impressed by it. Back in the day (4 years ago) it was nearly a second quicker than anyother FWD car in the country... Drag Radial's or not it was still incredibly impressive... especially with "Just" 270bhp & a 75 shot of NOS.... Some FWD cars running well over double the power still can't match its times.

Sorry, but 8v turbos have been running donkies years.
The only reason it ran faster times than anyone else, was the fact OF those front tyres.
And there were novas running mid 12's back then, without the strippage and donut sized rubber.
Not bad, but its never impressed me. Seen it plenty of times, 80% of which it never ran right.

I seriously disagree...
front tyres are only good for traction off the line.
The killer in times for Santa pod is having the power / torque to achieve the higher terminals to get low times.

I'm guessing this is very much a joke, but I personally couldn't really see it making much difference on a XE, since you should be able to launch a XE fairly happily without too much wheel spin off the line anyway. It'd still have a low terminal speed and probably only do a mid 14 to 15 sec 1/4 mile fancy front tyres or not.
a 11.34 1/4 mile @ 124 mph is a good time for any car, nova or whatever... in my opinion that engine must be fairly decent to pull that car across the line at that sort of speed . (to go 0-124 mph in 11 secs).
I know decent front tyres can make a big difference, especially if you're running a lot of power (as it's hard to get the power down), but it's not the MAIN reason a car goes quick or not, it still needs a lot of power to do a quick time like an 11.

sticky wrinkle wall slicks will make a huge difference to launching a c20xe corsa/nova off a line...... You'll be able to use a hell of a lot more rev/power!!!
Daft comment.

Was that aimed at me? It'll not make much diff to the time AK, due to XE's still not having that much power.
It'd make more difference to a LET for instance which would struggle majorly with grip.
The difference between a XE getting full traction off the line (sticky tyres) and slipping a bit on the line will be 0.5 secs or less on the overall 1/4 mile time imo.

Gaz has shit loads of gas too, much more than a 75bhp shot. Why is his so much more impressive than the nova?

Paul - have you ever owned or driven an XE or high powered XE hard from a standing start?
They are not that simple to launch quickly....
and 0.5sec is HUGE in terms of 1/4mile time!
I was running 13's with my XE corsa..... with your 'small' 0.5s gain id be in the 12's.
