[paul_j]Is it me, or have they seemed to have disappered lately?
I mean, my mates ring me up for something and when the convo has ended, they don't even say bye, they just hang up 
And @ work, my boss - he'll tell me to do something rather than asking nicely, and when i've done it, he wont even say thankyou  I mean, hes a sound guy and all, and I have asked him before about it, so he'll say please/thankyou a few times, then it'll fade  He's another too that doesn't say bye on the phone.
This new lad @ work tonight, 16 may I add, tells me do things etc when i'm the pissing manager 
don't get me wrong, believe me, I am no push over, they should just have respect for there olders, surely?
I've been brought up to use mannors and be polite, so I expect it back FFS.
When someone goes out of their for me, I tell them I appreciate it, and I really do, but to buy your friends drinks/crash them fags ALL THE TIME you expect some gratertude (sp) for it.
must be southern thing? I dunno.

Although the younger generation tend to be the worst for it, the parents that are bringing these wastes of space up are to blame, the human race doesn't just evolve in appearance it seems.

Yup, totaly agree mate. Thats why my 2 1/2 year old wont get what she wants before she says please, and thankyou.

We have something in common, my daughter has to do the same but it's second nature now, if she wants a treat or a toy, she uses the manners.

Theres no better feeling than when a stranger gives her something after i've just payed for it, and she says ''thankyou lady!''

I completely agree. I see it all the time in the way kids especially talk to the Police. Even when I was 14 if I'd told the Police to "fuck off" or the like I'd have expected a smack round the head and that wasn't long ago really. Our society has gone so soft that people no longer take responsibility for their own actions which is where this stems from imo.

I have always had the right mentality with feds I think, they can stop you all they wish, aslong as your not offending then you have nothing to worry about, just be polite, co-operate and they will let you be after.

I agree. The amount of fucking chavs around my area who start trouble for no reason, then argue with the police about it. I swear, if I had a gas chamber (Ash, please?) I'd end the bastards.

Yeah, all this hating the Police because it's cool to do so winds me up. The people who claim to be persecuted are singled out usually because they are doing wrong or have a history.
Saw so much shit when my dad was in the Police, I have utmost respect for 99% of them.

even my 22 month old daughter is learning to say please and thank you in her own way lol but i can understand her if no one else can but thats just being round her every day. i cant stand the young chavs that have become the younger generation they are so rude and look so evil, bring back the cane that what i say

Don't get me wrong there are definately Police Officers out there that need their attitudes adjusting too. I've always worked on the principle that if you're polite to me then I'll be polite to you - it's not hard is it. I have a lot of respect for parents who teach their kids manners it never goes un noticed.

It works as well. I dealt with a bloke who got sent to prison as a result of the investigation. After he came out I turned up to a fight on my own where a knife was mentioned and he was kind enough to help me persuade a couple of them that kicking my head in wasn't the best idea!

working with the public, i see lack of manners on a daily basis, i think most of it stems from the bad parenting of chav culture and a lawless society that has turned a blind eye to "petty" crime, all thanks to do gooders who do not understand the human race or the bigger picture.
But id also say that you have to remember we as being English have a different way of using manners that people from Europe, India, Sri Lanka etc dont use. Now so many people are embedded in our society i think thats also taking effect

This is certainly something i see when at work, peoples lack of basic manners. To a point where if someone is incapable of acknowledging us on the door and tries to walk straight past, ignoring the 'Evening mate, how are you?' from either myself or the head doorman, we ll refuse them entry. Quite petty really but it does give an indication of the type of person that they are.
When working up at a local uni, i see this bad attitude even more. It shocks me to see people them same age as me or a year younger, having such bad manners and attitude. It really is a case of bad parenting in a society that needs more than ever the strong parenting and handling of children in order to regain public order and respect.
I will always be polite to everyone and talk to people with respect. This is the way i was brought up. I cant stand when people cant show the same back to me.

No one has manners. In the bolck of flats I live in people don't hold the doors, people don't wait an extra 5 seconds for somone to get to the lift and people don't even say hello to eachother when you pass them by - even my neighbors don't say hello.
I think things like that are quite important...
