I love my job, i really do. I just think it’s too much for me now. Average 120 miles a day, car keeps getting the odd mark from car parks and it’s generally quite stressfull. Find myself checking things when i get home, waking up at silly o’clock worring about things and the pay is generally shit. I earn bang on 15k. We were meant to get a £500 bonus per Microsoft exam we completed which they decided to stop. Now they are on at us over statistics which is just making the stress load even morn.
Personally just don’t see the point in working there anymore. I spend more than i get in thinking i’d have a pay increase by now (have some savings from dead people).
Temptered to sell my car and go back to uni and do a masters.

Would getting a Masters get you any higher on the job ladder compared to working for that amount of time - taking into account the cost of the education AND living costs during this time?
Would it not be better to find another and better job?

Work to live not live to work.
Although that doesnt pay the mortgage.
Would it be easier if you lived closer to work? Im doing 70-80 a day just now & its a pain however I know its only for a little while longer....think thats what keeps me going tbh I think id slit my wrists if faced with edinburgh by-pass mon-fri indefinetaly.

What sort of Job would a masters get you, what sort of salary?
Im all for furthering education to get places, better jobs etc - if your going to make a go of it & its going to be worthwhile. I had to take some time out to retrain/get some papers as I was getting nowhere with what I had, people (mainly parents/girlfriend) thought I was mad. Took a while but it will be all worth it once I get where I want to be. I always think its better to do these things asap instead of thinking about it, putting it off then getting into my 30's when ive probably got alot more shit to deal with, more comitments & still being no further forward in my job/career & looking back wishing id acted just now....fook that.
Hope that makes sense

I love my job.. its great and interesting.
Although if i had the money and the option i would probablly think about going back to college/uni and learning something more than i have already and get a degree of some sort.. If i didnt have the house etc i probablly would.
Andrew you have good qualifications already, you just need to find a decent job that respects what you do.. Its not the best time to be getting a job at the minute though as more people are loosing them, rather than being employed.
Things will iron out... have a look around and have a think of what would happen if you packed your job in?

Go for a specialized qualification mate, don't bother with the masters...
(what sector do you work in with IT?)
£15k is good for a junior position but even then it should increase fairly soon after that.
