Booked my direct access today, been thinking of doing it for a while and wanted it done before the test changes.

Really excited, just not looking forward to telling my folks because they hate them with a passion...

Anyway pointless post but soon find out if I can keep a bike a bit longer than my cars..

Doing a course, theory, cbt, a day on 125's, same on 500's then my test..

I've ridden a few bikes before but I'm by no means good on one yet.

Costing me £599 for the full thing...

Good man!

See my thread in GC, I've just bought a 125 to find my feet before booking a few 500cc lessons then doing my test

If I were to do my CBT would I be able to ride a 125?

OR does a CBT only allow you to ride a 50cc?

i would say thats proberly best. A 125 is quick enough for a 'beginner'. And you can see if you even like bikes without spending ££ on test fee's.

Currently doing mine, is over 4-5 weeks though, 2 times a week after work hours.£350 . Thought about getting a 125 in between but decided against it as dont have the spare cash at this moment to shell out for one until i sell the car , so thought id save up for the longer term to get bigger bike once i pass.

Really enjoying it so far

with these courses, you don't have to buy a 125cc bike i take it? as you just use the instructors/companies? so it would basically be the same as driving lessons and you would use their bike for the test?

i get £200 towards anything that develops myself as a person from work so thought it would be wise to put it towards this.

Nope dont have to buy a 125, can use ones they supply. Obviously you pay for hire etc, not much though.

So how much is a CBT? Is it like a day course type thing that you pass at the end (assuming you are not a retard) ?

I have never ridden a motorbike so would need to get trained during the day

Mate did it this week. This time last week he hadn't been on a bike.

Now he has a full test passed

Makes you think about doing it before it all changes though...

Exactly the reason I'm doing it now, having the expense and hassle of the new test would put me off it.. I can afford to get a bike just now but think I'll wait till next year just so I can have a full summer of it.. Its quite scary how easy it is to get on the road but I have my head screwed on so will just have to watch what I'm doing..
