not too well in my experience, having owned a 1.4 16V sport many moons ago my friend got a phase 1 VTR (90BHP), I told him that the corsa would be pretty close behind but the VTR pulled away comfortably. Ofcourse you will have other people on here who beat VTR's in there 1.4s but in my experience the VTR is pretty even to the 1.6 Sport/ GSi corsa.

Good lord. This has been done many a time

Regardless of what Phase Saxo it is, (Phase 1 - 90bhp, Phase 2 - 100bhp) your Corsa will be beaten all ends up if the Saxo driver has two arms and two legs.

A corsa 1.4 sport would kill a vtr, it would even keep with a vts, only if its a phase 1 vts though.

The only way this could happen is if the Corsa grew arms and legs and had enough aptitude to use a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

Otherwise, you Sir, are a tit.

according to www.parkers.co.uk and these are what they say

corsa 1.4 16v sport:
0-60 - 10.5s
112mph top speed
88bhp

saxo 1.6 vtr(97):
0-60 - 9.9
116mph top speed
90bhp

so on paper the saxo stacks up against the corsa, but thats standard from the factory

In my experience there is nothing in it between my car and a VTR so not sure how a 1.4 would keep with it?
