My golf now has one of these

and im pretty impressed

They do make the car pull harder, drive smoother and fuel consumption doesn't seem to be any different.

These get a pretty good rep on the VAG forums.

I had a tuning box pre proper remap on the PD130 Skoda.

Was a good half way house. Certainly noticeable performance with no other mods...

edit: Boxes very easy to sell on too

Thats a lot of money for a tuning box, should have been able to get one from ebay or a forum for less than 100.

truth is, they do work! I have tested may cars on the dyno and although many of them blast out clouds of soot under acceleration they do often make more power than standard.

their limitation in many cases (and the reason for the black smog) is down to fact they only trick the fuel pressure and not the amount of boost, although some ecu's can alter the amount of boost in proportion to the amount of fuel.

I am still waiting to see a plug in box perform as well as a custom written remap as far as fuel economy and performance.
