I got told the MK1's had the hinges on the outside of the door, like the one in the link? Maybe not.

They do. Mk3s had internal hinges, mk1s and 2s had external ones, mk2s had the late style grille without the moustache ends, it's not a mk1

Well ive never seen a mk2 with external hinges.

Even ed china said on wheeler dealers when he was restoring that minis, was the mk1's had the external hinges.

and ive googled it and cant seem to find a mk2 with hinges.

I may be wrong though.

TBF, Ed China is a gimp, he thought the mk1 Golf they restored should have had GTI on the side stripes, red inserts in the bumpers and the wrong wheels.
