Ok, In the near future i will be needing to towe my corsa back and forward to various workshops etc.
I have been driving 1 year.
I have a rigid towing bar which i brought from halfords for £25.
Am i allowed to towe my corsa using this bar (someone will be in the corsa steering obviously) from my other car.
What are the UK laws, the corsa has no road tax and no mot but is having an engine conversion.
Thanks, Dan

should be fine aslong as the person steering the corsa has a full licence and is insured to drive.

I think you might need to take a towing licence

Although, because it has 4 wheels on the floor, you might be alright. I need to do my towing licence

if you use an a frame you donte need tax or mot as it becomes a trailer.
But if towed by a rope or the halfords bar you need tax mot and insrance etc.

i thought that 2 wheels had to be off the ground if it had no tax

as above, if all 4 wheels are on the road it needs to be taxed, the driver steering needs a full uk licence, and there was a case on the net not long ago where a guy got done for no licence or insurance while steering a car fro his father so im a bit in doubt about whether the driver towing neds to be insured or not cause if it was involved in an accident while towing who would be liable

Touchy subject then i guess. Might get my dad to take out insurance on the corsa so i can tax it and all. Then he can just drive it there, he will prob get it dirt cheap!

if you passed your test after 1997 and have not taken the towing extension then you are limited to towing 750kg.
I know this because I can tow the boat trailers at work which weigh 700kg but I can not tow a boat
If you passed before 1997 you can the total mass of the towing vehicle plus the tow load can not exceed 8500kg
