i wouldnt mind learning to drive properly, like on a skid pan or something?
what are my options for like advanced driving courses - is there such a thing?

Not too sure if this is the sort of thing your talking about, but Ive been on a couple of rally days and got to drive a Scoob, MK2 Escorts, new Mini.
Great fun, but limited amount of time in the car. I think it would improve reations etc on the road.
Was a bit shit getting into a 1.2 8v Corsa to drive home

Can't see him paying to drive a scooby for 15mins somehow I know what you're after wrighty, but I don't know where would provide it tbh.

mate did this last weekend, had 20mins in each car, ferrari , porsch, scoob and a lotus elise but imo it was just for fun, even though they did teach him how to drive, i guess alot pf practice is needed,
i bet there is a driving school which isnt for fun but for actual driving but i bet its costly

well there is of course the IAM course - speak to pow
personally i have tried this (via Xmas presents from M&D)

and taught me alot about under and over steer and importantly how to control it. also how to brake properly with/out ABS
then i had a go at this

which was great fun how to learn the appropriate use of a handbrake! and general car control on a slippy surface

Ive done IAM (passed), Skid Pan (learnt alot, saved my arse once in the IOW) and now moving on to RoSPA.

I'm currently doing the IAM course. I stated in my 12v and there wasnt a problem.
I paid £65 and that covers how ever many lessons you need and the test.
You do it in your own car and have to pay for petrol.
Its moslty old people that volenteer their time to tutor you.
Its not exactly extream driving, just sticking to speed limites and reading road signs.

Well worth doing, even helped my insurance premiums out 
You get assigned an observer (mine was a middle aged bloke, really nice who had a sence of humor). He taught me a lot about driving, cornering on the road etc etc, how to make the most progress possible while keeping safe (and I do, I always manage to smash parents etc going somewhere, keeping to the limits driving safely).

Theres nothing stopping you doing it in a slow car. Your not allowed to go over 70 anyway lol
