they sound like a beast too 
when i was driving back from a job through the centre of wales one flew over quite low, i thought there was something wrong with the van, because of the noise it made

We have had quite a few of them round my way
I remember working on my car last summer and i heard a huge noise; turned round to look and there was a hercules transporter plane flying at about a thousand feet! Awesome

Was on at lunch break at work a while back, fancied a power nap, got rudely disturbed by one of those things. Wondered what on earth it was, it actually frightened the living daylights out of me !

chinooks do make a very unique sound, they're over this way all the time due to colchester being an army town  not very nice in the night!
along with the odd apache flying over aswell as the normal army helicoptors!
