We all have our dreams but some of us never end up living them..
when i was in school i wanted to be a pyrotechnic but our career teacher didnt have a clue so i went into computing. ended up going through college then uni now into my 2nd proper IT job and im a software developer and tester for a HMRC Customs software company.. (for the freight forwarding industry)

still kick myself sometimes thinking why the hell didnt i look into pyrotechnics when i was younger ???

well im on good money now but do get bored from time to time

What job do you do and what did you actually want to do ?!??

To evertbody that wants to be a pilot, I looked into it properly as I was the same, comercial pilot jobs are shit basically.

Flying your own private lear jet is a different matter but flying for a comercial airline is for the most part rubbish.

Long hours, pay isn't that(should be in itallics) good.

You could be stuck somewhere for a week waiting for the flight to fly back etc, can be good but for the most part, apart from quite good pay there are a lot of other things that weigh against it.

you start on about 60k, goodish but not good when you've just paid the same to become a pilot.

Ed found some that were paying 90k but still not enough if you scrimped and saved to pay 60k to get a licence, different if you have the spare cash to get it though.

I'm going to Oxford Aviation Acadamy today to see if I want to apply there when I graduate from uni

What John says is a bit wrong really. It all depends on the airline you work for. THe low cost airlines all take you home at the end of the day so you sleep in your own bed. Plus the roster is 5 days on and 4 days off in most cases. You can only fly 900 hours a year, so you get your holiday off in a block so you have about a month off the do what you like. It all sounds good to me
