Was wondering whether any of you lot could suggest to me a cheap vauxhall just to buy, sit on the drive but insure so I can build my no claims up?
Was thinking of getting hold of an old Nova or corsa and then isuring it (hopefully) and then just keeping it as a project
The Idea would be to keep it as SORN but insure it (if it's cheap enough) in my own name- thusbuilding My no claims up without having to spend acouple of grand to isure mycurrent car in my name (costing £2k) and insuring it as a named driver (costing about £800)
Anyone?

Yeah and I'm unsure why it needs to be a Vauxhall if it's just going to sit on his path.

Good suggestion- I didn't think about that
Reason for Vauxhall is because I crave a red top or at least a fast car in 2-3 years so I was thinking long term project

Try a Panda and a Seicento as well, as well as anything else you can find on Ebay for 100 quid. You won't have it in two years, don't worry about buying something long term.

i wouldn't bother with a nova, it'll probably just rust away being sat on a drive for a few year's

I shouldnt think so? I insure, tax and mot a really really cheap car on tpf&t - run it a couple of times a month, doing about 1k miles a year while keeping it on the path 90% of the time. That way i build up ncb bonus in my own name while still a named driver on another policy (not registered owner either )
Should i wish to turn it into a project (if it's a corsa/nova) i.e; strip it down to bare bones ect. I would SORN it I don't see how thats fraud
I can see where your coming from though and have thought about it that way

If its SORN'd you can't drive it on the road - if it isn't you need to factor in that you'll need to keep it taxed - probably another £100 on top. Then give it an MOT etc etc.
