but it's too far
Just a random thought come into my head before, I went bridge swinging last year and it was ace. I really wanna do it again sometime and I thought about it earlier on but it's in the Lakes which means a 150 mile round trip in Bank Holiday traffic to go and pay £5 to jump off a bridge, think it's a bit excessive, especially when I'm gonna be going up there again on Friday, ah well, maybe some other time
For those that haven't heard of bridge swinging, this is me when I tried it last year

It's a bit like a bungee jump but it's with proper rope so you just swing around under the bridge instead of going back up and down again.
Brilliant fun, can't wait to do it again

Don't it hurt when the rope tightens and pulls you back really hard?!

Not if you do it right
There was like 3 different options for how to jump, forward off a platform how I did it, climb over the rails and jump back, or climb over and jump forward. Most jump back, but the ones that did it why I was there, most couldn't jump back far enough to make a nice swinging motion so they just dropped then started to swing once the rope had got tense, that's when it hurts. I thought it'd be easier to get a nice smooth swing if I jumped forward off the platform and it worked, didn't really feel it pull much.
Apparently tho some people that jump from the platfrom are too scared and end up dropping straight down.
Judging by what I've just typed it seems the more scared you are, the more likely it is to hurt So if you're scared at the thought of doing it, you might be better off not bothering

Is this a proper set up or did someone just tie some rope onto the bridge and charge passers by £5 for the pleasure of jumping off :-)

The people that did the one that I did said they've never had any serious injusries in the 25 years they've been doing it, s'pose it can happen tho if you panic and just drop, I saw a couple of people that got jarred a bit when the rope started to pull, although the rope is held by someone on the other side of the bridge and they don't really grip the rope properly at first so it shouldn't jar you about too badly even if you do just drop cos the rope is just gradually slowed by the person controlling it

Nah, it's a proper company that have been doing it for 25 years. As I mentioned above the rope isn't 'fixed' to anything. They do a few different things like this in the Lakes, I also did ziplining the day before but no-one could work my camera to get a video then

tbh when we went there, I was expecting to just be watching, I was one of these that thought bungee jumps where suicide for indecisive people but when I was stood watching I started thinking, what can go wrong really? then thought I'll probably regret it if I don't do it so I went for it. My brother said on the way home that he sort of regretted not doing it and if we do it again then he'll have a go. Adrenaline is an amazing thing
