anyone with any experience of them?

is the g60 any good? reliable? would running costs be similar to the vr6?

what about the 2.0 16v ones?

i know the VR6 is superb but running costs are a consideration really.

what should i look for? how much should i expect to pay for a clean one?

was leather a rare option on the non vr6 storm models?

cheers

G60 would probably be similar costs if not more than a VR6 imo. All depends on standard of tune & condition I guess.

Look for when the charger was just rebuilt & look out for ones being sold because their due - iirc a charger service costs from 600 quid.

Leather was an option in non VR6.

Great cars. I had a 1.8 16v one with shcrick cams. And even that went like fuck. Handling is superb, look stunning and very comfy interiors.
Personally when i get another it will be the vr6, best one out the lot imo. Less likely to get problems with them. vr6 engines are strong as hell, and dont think id want to trust a 18 year old supercharged engine.

My friends golf had a re-build at 180K

The guys who did it in Middlewich (Golf Nutz) said it was fine, but he did it anyway.

Golfs cheaper on insurance.

Fuel wise mine gets about 17-21 mpg in traffic on way to work but on the motorway at about 80 it will do late twenties. I have had 37mpg out of it but was a 100 mile journey at 60-65 mph.
