Looks like il be getting in the region of £1400 for the Golf. Ive been thinking with the money I can either spend it on the Rallye and possibly enter a sprint championship and keep tracking it. That or if I sold it I reckon I could get about 4.5k together for a new car, clio 172 or similiar, or any other suggestions for that price range? What do you guys think? I might regret selling the rallye, but I could always sel what I had later on and buy another race car or sprint car already done?

Would be alot nicer to go to the ring in though and have over the summer. I blew 2k on my rallye last time I had it in one place. Ended up with brembos, suspension, exhaust, 1.3 box and lsd. Would prob just get fiberglass panels, thicker rear arb, strut braces, and either a 1.3 for sprinting or 16v for sheer fun.

Aye, but at the end of the day, the value of the 172 would hold more than the rallye. All down to money I guess.

to be honest, try your car sprinting first - and see how it does. the 1.6 8v will suit a sprint / hill climb. Your car already oversteers loads so don't need a thicker rear arb.

Will be ace on the ring imagine destroying all the big cars in it. You saw yourself at lydden how good it is.

don't spend any ore on the rallye... just use it / sprint it etc.

And the ring? have you and your dad signed up for 11-14th of july yet???

You reckon? 172's are worth nothing these days... a lot that are like 2000 + reg are worth less than 106 gti's

S1 rallye's are rare and a mint one like James will easily be worth the same in a year or two as it is now. Where as a 172 will keep depriciating.

end of the day, 172 or rallye they're not worth mega bucks. He's not even talking about a 172 cup. Just put the money from the golf in the bank and enjoy the rallye as it is! You've spent loads on it to get it to the point it is at, pointless to sell it now for something you'll regret.

ph1 172's that look crap are worth nothing, the phase 2 are holding their value well.

A lot of people have this not even a cup attitude as well, you can have a cup and be .3 seconds faster, or have a normal one and have xenons, leather, climate control, auto lights/wipers etc etc.

Rag the rallye around for a year without changing it. Only spend money repairing it. Go round the tracks, have some fun and then see if its ded. If it isnt do it again, if not break it and get a 172

When will it be too late?

It's already too late mate. That's why I keep telling you to contact someone asap and try to get yourself onto the end.

Speak to Alex on SSC or try organising it yourself?

Either way, their deadline closed at least a month ago, everyone has already paid up, hotels have been booked etc.

You'd be doing well tbh, or a scrapper.

I paid 4350 for my 52 plate and that was a bargain.
