any lights u have must work apart from reverse. even if you have an extra brake light in the spolier. it must work

dpedns where you get it done mate. some places will tell you to replace the bulbs or will do it for you if asked. others will fail you for it. depends how picky they are, but it is a fail

on motorbikes you can get an mot for daytime use only. as in motorcross bikes without headlights

Bottom line.
If your side lights dont work it will fail.
You might not use your seatbelt but there still has to be one fitted.

he doesnt want them on because the car he has doesnt have an alarm buzzer telling you the lights are still on. IIRC robbo left them on once and flattened the battery, and couldnt get into the car.

Correct!
They both work now but still pissed off... need them to not work temporarily but de-fusing them (as i found out thanks to the po-po) disables the rear lights!

why not fit a warning relay to warn you that the lights are on the wiring is proberly already inplace and all you need is a relay
