drilled ones are rubbish, they crack round the holes, grooved ones are the best

drilled one are to save extra weight in the disks and are supposed to take away excess gases away...even though they don't really.
grooved one get rid of the glazing on the pad and DOES remove excess gas

grooved wear away pads quicker.
drilled look best imo, like a porsche or something.

What about just getting OE but a bigger set up?

Brakes are there to stop you, not look good.

thats like saying a car is there to get you from A to B.
but we all still spend time making it look good.

My point is still valid, why buy an inferior product just because they look better? Brakes are one area where function is more important than form.
Sand eel has gone over the pros and cons already.
I'm not going anywhere mate

But the fundamental design of drilled discs leaves them more prone to failure.

Like what?
ALL the "performance" discs I've used have warped. Standard manufacturer spec plain discs haven't.
The only way you're going to get good drilled or grooved discs is if you buy them with an AP brake kit or something similar.
EBC discs, or any of the other "drilled" ones which just have dimples do fuck all for braking performance anyway, they're made from inferior metal and will warp and/or crack, 95% of OEM ones will not, unless you've got twice the power they were designed to reign in.
But what do I know?
