Alright.

Passed my driving test the other day

Currently got a 96 corsa b on the drive, which isn't roadworthy and is gonna cost a bit to get right.

So after a word with my parents, we've agreed to get me a new car,

Been to look today and i quite like the new shape corsa's, BUT, when i got in, it felt like i was sat up really high and didn't have much headroom.. If any..

Im around 6ft 1, is there anything in the car to lower the seat? I couldn't find anything :S

Im torn between an 07 corsa d 1.2.
or an 07 fiesta style, 1.25..

Any advice?

Cheers, Ash

to lower the seat you just have to pump downwards the level you will find next to the seat.

Personally I don't like the Corsa D's and would look elsewhere.

The fiesta looks much better than the corsa imo.

Corsa just looks like the clio and most new hatchback's out

The main reason im swaying towards the corsa at the mo is because of how it looks, i think the styling would still look 'cool' in a few years, where as with the fiesta it'll look dated.

My mums got a 1.2 D sxi and I have to say even compared to my 1.2 C sxi for some reason it feels painfully slow..

before buying, drive plenty of cars. I often drive 5+ different cars a day and I can honestly say that the corsa D is one of the worst I have ever driven. I even had one as a hire car for a few months and hated every second of driving it.

after working on one recently I was shocked by the build quality and Vauxhalls attitude towards the problems it had and recently found that if you have the passanger window open and indicate left, the window winds itself back up common fault apparently.

the seats are rubbish, my hire car was 400 miles old and the catch broke off, height adjuster failed, as did the electric mirrors. Also when you pull the catch to fold the seat forward (if it hadnt broken off already) to let someone in the back then the seat slides forward and doesnt go back to its original position, meaning that you need to reset your seating position every time you let someone in the back, which is difficult when all of the seat catches have already broken.

then theres the visibilty, whic is awfull, engines are rubbish (except the vxr) trim is cheap, steering feel is too light and doesnt have any relevance to what the wheels are doing, brakes are massively overservo'd (sp?) and lack feel.

Fiesta is a far better car IMO. Polo is leagues ahead.

I'm 6ft 3 and have LOADS of headroom in my bro's Corsa D mate I wouldn't go for a Corsa D though personally. I'd go for a Fiesta if it had to be new.

i'd rather a C than a D, although the VXR is tempting

if i were to get a C it would be like this

the D's are just too big. housemate has one (1.2 SRi) and its Massive!! not a "small hatchback" by any means, towers over my B and is bigger than an Astra Mk3 and have to agree with Dave, visability is shockingly appauling. friend has a Fiesta Zetex Blue, nothing eye popping performance wise but you wont want that, great styling inside and out and seem to be going cheap (or reduced at least) atm....worth a look!

I drove a D a while back, nice cars, lovely interiors, but pretty big compared with a fiesta / corsa c.

I drove a D, wasn't too bad, was nice and comfy! Visibility wasn't that good though that pillar really gets in the way.

Read a few things about the 1.2, the main thing that sticks out is the lack of power and a rubbish fuel economy..

how about the 1.3?

The fiesta will use more petrol than the corsa. Lad at my work has had both, as a scheme car at work, he never goes out in the car, and when he does, drives like a granny. But he said the Corsa lasts longer on fuel. But tbh, i wouldnt want a brand spanker for a first car, just incase of any little accidents you might have.
