the old touring car cavaliers with the reverse mounted xe's...
how did they get around the gearboxes being on the wrong side and forward gears then becoming reversed??

It was only the head which was reversed, the block stayed the same way round, cambelt at the same end, just inlet on the front, exhaust on the rear, different cams and different ignition timing [/geek]
Did I get there before jr?

the gearbox isnt on the wrong side, the head is reversed only in inlet/exhaust wise, it was cast espically, not a gm item

see thats what i thought, but then i thought about the camshafts being on the oposite side to the bottom pulley... thats not what i mean.. whats the cambelt go round at the bottom?

the head is not reversed physically, only the inlet and exhaust are

No no no no.... The head wasn't actually reversed. The porting was reversed to allow an exhaust cam and exhaust manifold to work on the inlet side and vice versa.
