well im looking at buying a house at the end of the year so going to have to cut down the amount i spend at the moment. currently drive a 206 gti its a 2000 model with 73k on the clocks, problem is it drinks fuel and is expensive to run i would be looking to sell if for around 2.5 to 3k but not sure how much they are worth since it is modified (exhaust, lowered, filter, sound system,) would probably lower the value. would i be better keeping it or going back to the corsas and getting another corsa b? would need to be newer than a 1997 so i can fit my reg on it.

any ideas?

Check this site out mate and compare the 206 gti's to your car, im sure there is a 206 gti modded which can compare to yours, once seen a few prices price yours up.

Why do we need to know his finicial status before we can give an opinion on if it's worth more/less because of it's modifications and wether he can or cannot use his personal plate?

And what the fuck does your last comment have to do with anything in General Chat?

if it's costing you too much to run and you'd rather spend that money on a house deposit then it has to go - quite obvious.
If you can afford the house deposit and are prepared to wait a bit longer as you want to keep your 206 then keep it and be careful with your right foot.
It depends how much you want your house - if you want it asap then the 206 has to go and get something more economical, if you can wait then keep it.

Are you buying the property on your own? If so from my own experience of buying on my own i'd go with having a cheaper car but if you can afford to keep it then do. I found the first six months are the hardest just getting used to paying everything out. Good luck with the house buy it's a good investment but don't push yourself too much as it's no fun being skint.

You may get more interest if you put it back to standard, if thats possible? My corsa is a 1.2 but it costs me hardly anything to run and is pretty tidy!
Out of the two i'd rather have the flat as i have my own independance but i do love the car. No rush i can always have something quicker later on

No he's not, he's asking for opinions on wether he should keep his thirsty 206 in favour of a more economical car in order to put more money aside for a house, rather than just come up with your usual stupid repsonses to posts you could actually think about what is being asked and offer an opinion or suggestion as to what you think he should do and maybe suggest a car he can get that is still fun to drive but more economical so he can have the best of both worlds - or you could just talk about having a wank and telling your Mum (or something)

You sir are a fucking idiot.

If you can get the lowering kit and exhaust removed and put the standard stuff back on for free (i.e if you and some mates can do it and you still have the standard parts) then that is what I'd do, should sell easily then as it certainly looks clean and straight but the mods is limiting your market - if a youngster turns up you can always offer the lowering kit and exhaust for a few quid extra, if not then you can sell them in classified on various websites.
Personally I'd keep the car, if you like it, and save a bit of money here and there from other places - not spending so much when you go out at weekends, not using the right boot so much and saving a bit on petrol - they all add up and that way you keep the car and save for your house.

yeh thanks i dont have the standard exhaust as it was rusted hence why i got the new one. i think i need to speak nicely to the gf and see if she will help me out with a deposit that way i can keep the car and get a house too. house prices seem to have stopped rising up here so i want to get one asap. just need to figure out a way to save more money i will just need to drive it less unless anyone has any better ideas? i had thought of a smaller car again but i guess it would be pointless. thanks to all who posted something usefull.
