Right purchased a sirocco after the last incident with an ebay seller trying to fob an 8800 off on me as a sirocco....

Turns out its a fucking fake, a very very very good one but its still a fake. The nokia pc suite disk has the word Nokia spelt Nokda In the small print. the charger feels nasty quality and although looks the same as a normal charger (i work in a phone shop) but it stopped working after 1 charge. The desktop charger scratched the phone when placed in it and then the battery went wrong, it was only then i researched it.

The phone itself is immaculate and seems ot be real.

BUT im sure its fake. SO....

Who do i contact first, Nokia? They take faking very seriously, but obviously im less concerned with nokia being ripped off than i am loosing out on £300..

So do i contact Ebay first? Or nokia? Trading standards?

Seller is going to get bummed. 100% feedback as well

Advice please

Surely nokia will be able to confirm whether its a fake or not by the code on the phone (no idea what it is called). I would do this first before saying it is a fake. Then move onto trading standards and ebay.

Have you mentioned this to the seller yet?

The charger should be the same as whats in with the N95 8GB, compare it to the ones at work. Check the handsfree kit for markings, what does it say on it?

Don't forget the phone could be real but have dodgy accessories with it. If so it's less of an argument

This is what im worried about, but there are a few issues with the phone, i.e the gauze i told you about and the camera it just seems not to function as it should.

I think nokia are first port of call so i can back up claim with evidence

The charger is identical to the DCU-4 that we sell at work and came with my n80. My n95 comes with the smaller travel one but cant remember the code off the top of my head. Its the plastics and how the mould seems inferiro around the edges...

post up the link to the auction so we know who it was that sold it?

Also, get onto your credit card company, they can cancel the payment themselves too as it's their money that was used to pay for it

ring your credit card company up and see what they say, say you have bought something and it isn't genuine and if its possible to withdraw the payment?

I'm sure i rmember reading that if a credit card company did this, paypal went straight to the seller and put their account in the red

I phoned HSBC yesterday about an ebay purchase that never arrived, they said they'll send me some forms out and i've to forward any correspondence i've had and they'll investigate.

Wasn't through paypal either so if the credit card don't do anything the money will be gone.

file a dispute with paypal. They will automatically put the funds on the other persons account on hold.

Jambo did the serial numbers come back as belonging to a 6111 or is the guts of the phone from a 6111? As it looks nothing like a Sirocco?

serial number is that of a 6111. The phone if u type in *#0000# it says sirocco and the correct software version.

It is an EXTREMELY good fake. Had me fooled for a while.
