just wondering if anyone can shed any light as to the difference (if there is one and apart from more bhp from regal)
Spoke to regal and re-mapping my 1.8 sri H will apparently give me another 15bhp
Also looked into superchip, it says on the website an 8bhp increase.
I live quite a while away from courtenay and regal so it does look like superchip if i cant find anywhere else

I have remapped quite a few now, if the engine makes its usual standard 128 bhp then you should see a gain of around 8-10 bhp at peak rpm and slight gains through the revs.
biggest gain on these is how much smoother and better the torque is delivered from 3000 rpm to 6300 rpm. with a decent exhaust they make 140 bhp and 140 ft/lb consistently.

Spoke to a woman at regal as i was looking at getting a powerflow system first then a remap.
But she said its fine to get a remap first then full system after with no need to remap again

End of the day you wont actually feel a 10bhp gain apart from in your head.
Best off getting the exhaust and intake sorted first. Then the re-map purely to smooth out any flat spots that you may get etc

sorted out intake, got courtenay panel filter in de-restricted box and vxr intake, feels like it pulls better with that.
It feels like it could benifit from smoothing out flat spots

Get a decent exhaust next then look at a re-map.

It wont be a live custom map. They will be generic maps.
Unless you were speaking to dastek about a uni chip?

all superchips are generic flash remaps, usually programmed through the OBD port.

its not standard tho is it steve, hes got a panal filter!

orangio, im looking at remapping mine, z22se, and just to give you an idea, i have the same intake as you, but will also be getting the 2.4 inlet manifold, with a drilled out pre-cat, with a free flowing exhaust and i am looking at about 20bhp gain.. max. just to give you an idea.
some of the corsa-c lads have got good gains but they have got dblias inlet manifolds on which are £££'s and viper induction kits..

you get feck all power from it on that engine, its mostly in peoples heads, and certainly isnt worth the usualy asking price of remaps

Steve knows as he has read the data from this ecu and attempted to remap the ecu on his dyno at home to see if gains are possible.
or he could just be guessing.

you think a remap is worth x hundred quid to get a few bhp if anything that you wont even notice, i made it sound like i was on about that particular engine, i wasnt i was meaning any small n/a engine in general, isnt worth the time or money, unless youve got mods that really do need mapping, like cams, throttle bodies, inlets etc

I agree steve
I spend ages talking people out of spending £300+ on a remap for their 1.2 fiat, they still insist it gets the remap and then look at me funny when I tell them their £300 has got them virtually no gains, then they spend another £180 on a glorified airfilter and £300 on an exhaust.
However, the z18xe does respond well to a good remap and exhaust (especially 4-2-1 manifolds with de-cat)
