If you have the receipt and the item hasnt been opened i would think that you could just go in and get a refund.

Try different motorworld.
I cant see why your not entitled to a refund unless stated on reciept.

I'm sure I had an argument in the store a few years ago in Topman, wanted to return an item, unworn but was only 3/4 days old. They said I was welcome to an exchange but no refund as it was their store policy but I'm still sure your statutory rights supercede this and you have up until 28 days to return it for a refund. Providing it is in the condition it was purchased in. I just kicked off in the store, held up a large queue and got a refund

I know this probably dosnt help much but i just got this off their website for orders you can make online?
Cancelling an order

Items are returned carriage paid
Items are returned unused
Items are returned in original packaging
Items are returned in re-saleable condition
Items cannot be accepted for return which have been specially ordered for you or manufactured to your specification
We reserve the right to deduct the original delivery cost from the refund of the product returned

Mobile phones are different though and you still have up to 14 days to return.
PS Rob, I find a nice phone call (maybe to a different store in this case) before you intend to go down, often helps.
Just explain it's as new and unopened etc.. and see what the manager says.

i had this problem bought some window tint film left it in my boot over night took it back the day after untouched with reciept and wouldnt refund it.
their come back which is perfectly legal is its fit for the purpose that it was bought for.
companies dont legally have to do anything if you just say you change you mind about something its just out of there good will.
tbf best thing you can try is their head office which i did but even then you get someone who really couldnt gie a cr*p about your problem (in my case)
outcome for me was just a credit note which i still have, and they now have one customer less as i refuse to buy anything from them
edit: this was motorworld aswell
