Is this a company car? If not, why not spend a little less, and use more for insurance?

Go for the SRi? Less power, less insurance. Once its had the remap, exhaust, IC etc, it'll be runnign good figures.

Wouldn't spend £10k on a new corsa though.

Why not hold out another year or so and get a 2nd hand astra VXR?

Agreed. If you want to stay with Vaux. If not, new Astra but pre-facelift. Do the 1.7CDTi engine in that. Not exactly nippy, but more than capable.

If you're doing lots of miles, i'd be looking at a bigger car than a Corsa personally - long distnaces aren't their selling point, and was surprised how loud the sxi D was on the motorway that I hired.

Can pick up 1.7CDTi Astra SRi's for around 8k that are 12 months old .
