Right, im not going to do an engine conversion or anything im just curious!

Lets say, i put a c20xe in replacment for my x14xe....

I would imagine the emissions would by considerably higher. Im not sure how the MOT works but i woiuld imagine there are certain limits for certain engines. Not knowing how strict they are, and the fact that is still registerd as a 1.4, would the 20xe pass on the 14xe emissions test?

Just wonder if people get a legit test for a non legit car!

Would not pass.

some C20xe's don't need CATs either so it would fail even more

If you're going to do it, register it

Well yes seeing as the vass majority of ' XE'D corsas' are not registerd and seem to get through tests.....

Dodgy MOT's or they're MOT'd as the smalller engine, converted, used for 6 months then sold

I mean people tend to dump the engine in, and just have a 'cuztom str8 thru' as its alot easier.

Has anyone adapted a CAT to fit the xe engine and a standard corsa ehauxst/aftermarket one?

Any garage that specialise in exhausts should be able to do that for you.

Of course mate, but im saying if someone did this, then sent it for an MOT, would it pass its emissions as the 1.4? (i would imagine it would be at the high end or the scale but.....)

Ive had my LET passed while it was a 1.4 on the log book, I just told the garage that it was a 2l and they did the relivant test for that engine. I didnt change the details on the log book before the MOT because the DVLA are wankers and take months to do anything and I would have run out of tax waiting for the log book back

You do realise your insurance is not valid, so you may as well drive without tax as well.

dont know why people dont insure it as registered!!!!!!
if you search properly and get a few quotes, you will see its not that expensive

depends Jamie, you can still insure it as a 2.0ltr regardless of what the DVLA have on file.

To make it pass an MOT..... I thought, even though it clearly had a 2.0 under the bonnet, they would test it as per the orginal engine due to unregisterd engine conversion.

but obvious not accoring to that lad with the LET

when i was 20 insurance for the valver was 900 quid third party fire and theft its only a corsa so doesnt need the whole fully comp

my 2.1 16v gsi was registered as a 1600 still when it went for ita mot and passed the emisions no problem
