my car MAY be off to Red Dot in a few weeks for a re map, this is the graph they have advertised, I have no worries over the quality of the map as I know of 5 or 6 people who have used them, I thought Id just let you look at it see what you think

surely horsepower increases as you move up the rev range?
That's pretty much flat throughout

might be different with a dirty diesel
looks like it has a very wide power band

yeah deisels peak to early
mine pulls hard from 1500 - 2500 then starts to drop off
the main one were looking at is the one with red dot opinting on it and the torque curve in bold

the bottom line I have no clue
the next one up is the cars standard BHp the BHP at the flywheel one is the mapped BHP and the bold one at the top is the mapped torque figure

That looks about right for a fast turbo'd diesel, but the torque curve should be flatter tbh.

bottom looks like a coastdown loss graph.
a 'normal' before and after bhp and torque graph looks like this:
bhp:

torque (figure at top right is bhp @ wheels)

and on another note, what are mapped deisels like for reliabiltiy,
I know the clutch will suffer, this isnt a problem as I dont drive the car hard anyway, will their be any internal damage?

Clutch is it really
Diesel engines are strong, you can NOS the fuck out of them and the first thing to go is the clutch, not the internals.
this is a graph from the engine i want (AHU)

obviously i wouldn't go to superchips lol

I have mapped loads of diesels and never had a single problem (except on some vag cars the throttle body goes loopy and needs resetting)
generally clutches and gearboxes are built to handle huge amounts more power than the engine makes as standard anyway. I have just bought all the new live mapping software for Fiats and Alfas and done a few last week with no issues at all.

whats the engine code of your car Matt? whats the standard BHP?
I have loads of info on the fiats, inc the insider trade info that they dont tell the customer about reliability after remaps. I will see if there is anything that is in the file for your car.

last one we did made 173 bhp and 270 ft/lb but it also made above book figures as standard.
nothing in the file to say that they have any reliability problems, just says that this model is too new to have had any widespread reliabiliy issues and no short term problems have occured (or have been reported) following ecu remapping.

no unfortunately, its a tricky ecu to work with. have seen these 'tuning boxes' make slight gains but nowhere near their claims that the manufacturers give and they tend to just chuck out plumes of black smoke

more is achievable as well, but drivability is sacrificed and power delivery is a lot drifferent. depends if you are chasing big figures at peak revs or good figures right through the rev range.

like i mentioned, im not interested in ragging it off sets of lights racing chavs anymore
Id rather just pull away from them out a round about then back off
thats why im not concerned about the clutch
also want a bit more poke for motorway driving, any extra MPG would just be a bonus really

does it say anything about DPF filters on VAGs catching fire i think it was superchips who cranked the boost right up and set fire to one
