[quote author=Damd VI link=topic=248.msg1656#msg1656 date=1198440173]
Since this doesn't exist anywhere else, here it is, start to so far.

It all started with a Black Evo VI, one owner from new, imported brand new into this country and having spent it's whole life in Shetland of all places. That meant only 19,000 miles from new, with a full service history, and every reciept from new.

For a reasonable sum of money, it became mine...

So, do I concourse it, or go wild? A decision had to be made.

1st up was a set of wheels, as the original VI wheels/tyres were well past their best. I was never a fan of the standard VI wheels, so...

Which left it looking like this:-

And oh my god, what have I started?

A plan began to form. Having had an Evo before and only done engine mods, this time I'd try to build an Evo EXACTLY as I wanted it. Not someone elses vision, not even necessarily the most powerful or fastest, just what I thought was the best mix. Light weight, 450-500 BHP, Uprated chassis and brakes, basically a road car that would look the part, and hold it's own on a track day.

So it began...

Various engine and body mods

Wild was definately where we were now heading! But I wanted the mods to be quite suble, on different if you really started to look hard. So no flip paints, no fancy colours, everything had to have a function. More parts arrived...

Which left it looking like this...

So I thought, how can I lower the centre of gravity? Suspension is one way, but if I also take weight from the highest points of the car, hey that means I can run a sensible ride height, but still have the effect of riding lower! Solution? Carbon Roof! So who makes them.............?

No-one. :'(

Hang on.....

Can we make one? ???

8 weeks or so later....

Steve Walker also managed to get everything painted, as well as fit a genuine Ralliart Carbon Vortex Generator. Next highest bit was the boot, since the spoiler had already been done. Monster Sport did one, so a call to Stevie Ho @ Unik resulted in...

The car was finished on the eve of the very 1st F&M show, looking like this...

It appeared in Unik's 1st DVD...

At this point, serious discussions started with various tuners, and to sort out what was best.

While that was on-going, I started getting rid of all the stuff I didn't want.

Rather than junk a mint interior, we swapped it into Lynn's car.

I ordered some new seats...

So in the interim, I used Lynn's old front seats/door cards to keep the car usable.

By now, it was becoming clear that the car was going down a strict performance route. I'd chosen to let Simon Norris work on the car. With his input, it now became clear that far more than 450 BHP was on the cards if I wanted. I went to him looking for an engine with a 5,000 RPMish power band, good mid range and strong at the top with a high rev limit. What he came back with was a plan for something which was way in excess of my 1st thoughts. But crucially, it was do-able. I bit the bullet...

So, knowing it was going to be a good bit quicker, I decided to strengthen it a bit...

One of the single best mods I did. even though it's only a very basic cage (again, subtle, you need to look for it!), the percieved difference was huge. The car felt much more rigid, with the suspension feel being much better.

This is how the car remained while I was saving cash for Simon, and waiting for him to have a clear spot for what was now a major rebuild. We still got out and about with it...

F&M ones:-

And at Falkirk Cruise:-

And then came the call. Simon was ready. Off we went, and ended up here!

That was mid September. Here's where we are now...

And it turned out a bit more than 450 BHP!!!

I was over joyed with this. It ticked every box I'd given Simon, and way exceeded the power target. But it meant more expense. Transmission was now going to need a major rethink, as was the suspension for the 2nd time...

So, that's where we are. I'll update the thread when it comes back, late January. It's underwent even more changes; I won't reveal them all here until it's back, when I'll update the thread with the final pics and full spec list for you all. But meanwhile here's a taster of some of the stuff that's still to come when you next see it...

And last but not least (photoshopped on for now...), the new lights...

Next stop, January! Hope you like!

(Thanks to Lynn, Simon Norris, Steve Walker, Stevie Ho, Wayne at Arnside, Craig Cruerden, Icy + Rikki Bruce for photos and everyone who has helped so far and in the future)

Doesn't look right at all
Front bumper looks god-awfully cheap and the ride height makes it look horrible.

sunvisor screens are now gone,
these were going to be used so he can keep checks on the cars levels etc while driving,
but obviously dosnt need to to that any more as he choose to take it to simon instead of going down his first route of plans!!

car is going to be very impressive when he gets it back and dose the finishing touches to it,
hes also talking about entering the knockhill round of the time attack, but nothing for definate yet ,
