Whenever I chat with my mate (who owns a civic vti ) he always says his car isn't that quick? Which it is fairly nippy (when VTEC decides to kick in )

Also J.Clarkson says that the average car has "103bhp" so I was just trying to do the math

One of Gaz's mates had a 1.6 V-Tec

Gaz was messing about in his 1.6 with him...

Month later the guy sold the civic and bought an MR2

I dunno really, 90/100bhp, my 1.3 escort pushrod cruses at 70 with ease tho and still overtakes fine and is only a 60 odd bhp with 4 speed box, returns more mpg than my corsa 1.4 sport ever did

i think average really needs to be done in comparison with BHP/Ton and torque needs to be thought about too.

I hate quoting them, and i cant be doing with the book-figure warriors that go on about 'so-called' standard 0-60 times etc, but its probably the best way to differ between slow - average - quick if you were really bothered about knowing.

I'd say 100bhp was below average.

If I could be arsed going through adding up every power figure of every car on the market right now, then dividing them by the number of cars, the end result wouldn't be 100, it'd be at least 220 IMO.

Therefore, my car is average, if not below

My 1.6 is fairly nippy but by no means fast. Just bearable. Couldn't have anything slower.

Would class my 1.6 Sport as average.
