I have a 1.2 16v Corsa B (T reg) and I just wondered if anybody has tried using BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax petrol instead of normal Unleaded and has found any difference in Performance, Fuel Economy etc....

i used to run it in my xe but it used to make my car smoke on heavy throttle for some reason, stopped using it and no smoke anymore so i have stayed away ever since( used it 2 years ago and never had any engine problems since)

I don't use anything else than V-Power in the Corsa.

Been in there for over 10k now. Exhaust is clean as a whistle if you put your finger in there, so think it makes a difference!

I used to use V power but it's not 110p a liter and normal is 99.9p.

It doesn't idle as well as it used to. Inside my exhaust is as black as a black hole. There is pure petrol coming out the back

Just looked in the manual for my Corsa 1.2 16v and it says this:

"Fuel Quality has a decisive influence on the power output, driveability and life of the engine. The additives contained in the fuel play an important role in this connection. You should therefore use only high-quality fuels containing additives".

Nothing, unless you're worried about driving up Mt. Everest or you have a turbo running mega boost.

My MR2 hated 95 ron, put the car in safe boost mode couldn't get past 10 psi. 97/99 was great, ran sweet as a nut 15/16psi

Since then, I've always used the 97/99. I treat 95 as "tesco value" petrol.

I had a spat of putting BP Ultimate in my 12v in the hope it'd make a difference.

Needless to say I deserve a fail pic.

pass one to me as well.....

12v has no difference, didnt improve economy, performance or any other factor except a bigger hole in my wallet. have always used BP regular (or at least aim to where possible)

on a 1.2 you will not notice any difference

Biggest difference will be found on turbo cars as the knock sensor will adjust as the fuel burns more efficiently

My TT used to run like shite on BP utilamte, ok on optimax and fantastic on Tesco 99RON

However when VPower came out I used this instead of TESCO

On the BMW I use VPOWER diesel and notice a slight difference but not as much as i did with the TT

Always use Shell V-Power, occasionally have BP ultimate if I can't get to a Shell garage. Havn't seen the 99 Tescos fuel in any garage around so have not tried it. Not sure if it makes a difference or not as have not run on standard fuel. However the car is supposed to be run on super anyway.
