I'm not debating the job they do, and the possible poor treatment they get when back in this country.
But I cannot help think that no-one forced them to sign up and you join the army for a reason. . .

No but if the police moan about a pay rise they deserve one more.
Over here they get discounts at shops etc, we just give discounts to students back home, where as at least they fight to protect the country and deserve a discount.
It has taken me moving to another country to see how shit we treat our armed forces.
When they come back home here they have massive parades we do nothing. You do not have to agree with the politics of the war they are in to thank them for risking their lives.

Yeh they signed up, but they dont sign up for the treatment by the Goverment and the general public when home.
I used to serve in The Black Watch, got wounded and medically discharged. The goverment just dumped me on my arse with fuck all as soon as i was no use to them anymore. No money, no place to stay, no nothing! Luckily i had a family to take me in, but what about those that dont?

Oh yeah, I'm not debating that - it's fucking horrendous how you guys/they are treated.
But when I hear about them moaning about going out to serve and shit conditions out there - it's a war zone and what war is about.
I'll no I'll get shouted down on the subject and I don't explain myself very well. Never mind.

Its not the conditions that really get moaned about. Its the lack of kit, lack of ammo and lack of water!
Theres guys running about. out there without bodyarmour. There a huge shortage of heavy and light machine guns, so much so that they are getting taken away from training bases and also being borrowed from the yanks!
The americans get treated in a whole differant way, while we are on ration packs they have pizza huts! They have every bit of protection kit they need, including knee pads, were lucky if we get body armour!

lol this is a totally differant era to ww2. The goverment have enough money to waste on shite and things like the new wembly, but not enough to spend on some life saving equipment?

Yes but its not world war two, we are fighting a war that we did not have to, we could at least look after the troops we have.

No I agree no one forced them to sign up, but we should give them the tools to do their job correctly.

That's just it. They are fighting a war that they have to. They joined the Army. They aren't in the Army to go round to schools and villages showing machinery at feté's are they? They are employed/signed up to fight.

I just think if some is prepaid to die for the country we should at least look after them and give them the respect they deserve when they get back.
Closing of MOD hospitals is a disgrace, you get wounded in action the last thing you want to do is share a hospital ward with mad OAP's screaming all night.

I totally agree on that part.
But on the part of saying "we are fighting a war we shouldn't be fighting" - I could handle that if they were told to sort out yobs on a Friday night (police job) but not to fight a 'war'. They are employed by the government to do just that, whether it be on our door step or 1k miles away.

I agree I said poltics aside on weather we should be at war.
But if I was out there I want to think I had more ammo and better stuff than the people I was fighting.

if someone is going to volunteer to put their own life on the line for your cause (ie PM's reasons) then the least you could do is recognise this and do what you can to support them.
one volunteer is worth 10 paid men, or so the quote goes. there is also a qute which states that no passion for the cause is better by that of a volunteer.
yet this is not recognised by the Government in terms of basic equipment, supplies and general kit. fortunately the British Army are British and can "adapt and overcome" and get on with it the way they only know how to, the British way!

Did anyone see Ross Kemps in Afgan recently?
The last battle they were in, they were on the attack, and had to pull out due to one reason.
No f-ing ammo left.........
I fully support what any trooper does as my family used to be in the RAF and Army, its what I wanted to do.
But i don't believe in the fight of this country, i don't support this countrys ethics anymore so would never do it.
But these guys do, for many reasons, and if they are fighting, they deserve the proper kit to do their jobs.
Would you give an IT Techy a good old 286 mhz PC to run all the servers?
Frankly, put all the f-ing cons out there, then if they get killed, its no real loss
Our troops if they are injured get absolutly F-all money as well, so if they loose a leg, they get a few grand, then sent on their way. Aye becuase when your sub 30, a few grand is going to replace a leg/arm and help you get another job/career to get into.
AS said, im gonna leave now before i get heated

If someone joins up to the services imo they know exactly what their letting themselves in for, its common knowledge the army is shoddy as fuck....why join? I know lots about it & im not even slightly interested in the forces or what they do. We shouldnt even be entering these war zones, UK's a tiny island what should we care whats going on in Afganistan or iraq.....leave them to kill each other!
