Does any body know how to remove the swirly marks left on black paint work (and other dark colours) because of car washes etc??

A friend of mine told me there were cleaning products available to remove these.

Is this true?

If you had this problem how did you get rid of them?

Cheers

either mopping it with a very light finishing compound or you could give it a go with a clay bar

clay bars dont take out swirls iirc they just clean the paintwork from debris after a wash ie tar, brid crap gets it smooth but leaves the swirls.

This will take a long time though wont it, and ive had a look on ebay and a 207ml bottle is 7.99!!

Does this little bottle go a long way or will i need more than one to do my corsa b?

Ive used the bottle on two cars and theres still some left.

£7.99 is cheaper than paying a bodyshop about £80 to mop it,when you can do it for £7.99

Did take me about 4 hours on one car but was worth it imo.

If you are a perfectionist then for a pro detailer to do it you are talking anything from about £250 upwards.

Have a look on http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/

You could use Autoglym Super Resin Polish by hand and it would make an improvement but if you are looking for perfection you would need days and days and very strong arms doing it that way.

This is a good read if you are serious: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=10656

Well i dont want to be at it for days if im being honest, just improve the looks a little bit. And it would probable be a bit silly considering this is going to be my first car and im going to scratch it anyway probably and the cars only worth £1050.
Cheers for the links.

Valeters near me charges £25 a panel.

But did watch them use 2000 grit followed but various grades of mopping compound the get rid of scratches on a brand new Audi S5. Wasn't a trace when they were done.

Go for the Super Resin Polish then. You'll notice a good difference even if its not perfect. Then put a layer or 2 of some wax like Collinite on afterwards

As mentioned above. Autoglym super resin polish has fillers in so helps to hide the swirls. They wont go away but will not be so obvious.

SRP will do mate, but apply wax after polishing, or rainwater will run the SRP away. Alternatively, find a pro detailer in northern ireland. Im not sure whos over their, but theres got to be one somewhere.

collinite is a very good wax for the money, seems to last forever. Cleanyourcar is an excellent company, ordered off them a few times.

Happy days!!

So if i spend around £30 and an after noon i can get my car looking mint - cant be bad to that.

There is alot of black platic on the corsa b. My dad always used back to black to keep ours looking dark but i only ever lasted a few days.

I was just wondering if there was any more effective products on the market that are maybe longer lasting?

Cheers.

I used to use Autoglym Bumper Care. It was better than Back to Black but still needed topping up every 1-2 weeks.
