Just back from the football 5 minutes. Was walking back to my car with my wee brother, 2 cousins and a mate in a group of fans including women, elderly people and children in prams. We get warned that theres a group of youths throwing objects over the bridge aimlessly so decide to cross the road and go an alternative route. They then follow us throwing glass bottles and bricks which we try and ignore as much as we possibly can all the while there's women crying and guy getting nervous as the glass was actually starting to hit us. They then charge at us with knives in their hands as i was about maybe 100 feet from my car, an old women dropped all her shopping bags all over the road and a husband actually ran away, as he had been skelped in the head with a brick already, from his wife and she was in absolute hysterics, i slowed down tentatively until i knew they never touched her, which fortunately they didn't.
My mate phoned the police whilst we were running and for a start 999 doesn't work anymore apparently WTF???  and they start asking trivial questions like his name, age and where he lives whilst 20 feet behind tops there's a group of children holding dangerous weapons in their hands and as we've already witnessed they will use them. We get away eventually and i phoned my old man to come and get us. The police eventually pull up 25 minutes after we had first phoned, which considering there is AT LEAST 500 police in the vacinity for the football match is an absolute discrace, and when we start to ask what took them so long etc they have the most stinking attitude towards us you have ever witnessed which culminated in US being threatened to take to the cells.
Anyway the point in this thread is youths today have no respect whatsoever, they are being allowed to run free in an almost lawless way as the police are non existant when they are required. Bring back the belt and follow the European style of policing. If you step out of line you get a beating with a large bat.

TBH, I don't see why the police needed to know his name, address, shoe size and hair colour etc in such an incident? What could this information possibly add to their ability to send the riot vans in?

Because they are as useless as anything government related in this country.
In my nearly 23 years I have yet to see them being of any use to me or family/friends yet they are quite happy to entertain complaints from obviously dodgy characters.

There were a couple wearing Rangers tops but my point wasn't blaming a set of fans or anything else as they could hav been wearing motherwell tops it doesnt matter. 12 year olds ith knives? carrying a weapon should be at least 10 years minimum.with every case being ten years not lets make an example of one and the rest get less.
If i had the balls and money to up and leave my family and freinds i would,i hate this country so much my fathers aunt lives in oz and she says its totally diffrent. safer cleaner stricter with criminals,better standard of living all together.

It costs £85 per prisoner per day to be housed in a british jail, we should be more like thailand where it costs 50 pence. i leave it up to your imagination to figure out why that is!!! im pretty sure it would discourage the little scamps!!

Local chavs take advantage given the police are maxed out marshalling fans around.
Shit I know, but everybody would be moaning about their council tax going up if more resources were thrown at policing other matters on match days.
