Very good idea imo-- I always drive with my lights on- it clearly makes you more visable and I cant really think of a down side to it.

are we just talking about sidelights here??

I sometimes put them on in the day so my dash lights up (for some reason the corsa C dash is always in a shadow) but other than that, dont really see a need for it

The DRLs on Audis are another light altogether from the main, dipped and sidelights. And when the DRLs are on the rear lights aren't on.

lights are to light up dark roads

grrr

not sure if i agree or not. in principle its a great idea and when ALL cars have it will be great.

although the cars that do it now stand out, the ones that dont are often "unseen" imo

obvioulsy this is seen more during that hour between sidelights and headlights. some stick dipped on as soon as possible, others stick to sidelights longer than needed....those on sidelights can be "lost" in my experience.

until all cars have it i'll be mixed feelings...

Is it just me who can't see the point?

Is it to increase visibility? Because if you can't see a car in broad daylight you shouldn't be driving.

Or is it to stop people forgetting to put their lights on at dusk, again, if you can't remember to do it, should you be driving?

Or is it just to cover up the fact that a hell of a lot of drivers on the road have shocking observation skills I wonder and the government doesn't want to do anything about it.....

Doesn't help people see if they aren't looking in the first place does it.

How many people have a rear view mirror (all of us) and how many drivers do you notice not using it at all - a lot.

very true but defeats the object - might aswell use them

the adaptive headlights also only work if you have your headlights on auto

Id say its a good idea as it does make people more noticable. But doesnt bother me too much, im used to driving round with my sidelights on. I do it automatically; just something i have got into the habit of doing when i went from my scooter to my car

I remember seeing an advert to have day time lights ages again. They proved in a survey that you were slightly less likely to be in an accident. I guess this is becasue your car would stand out more from others.

BVut if everyone is driving with thier lights on every car will be the same and not stand out i recon.

Pointless imo.

Not quite sure how it increases petrol consumption though
