Like under £750 type cheapness. A proper car

Ones that spring to mind for me are

Citreon AX diesel - cheap & good mpg
Hyundai accent - quite relible but quite horrible
Corsa (8v of some sort or diesel) - hardly pleasant, but does the job
Old Golf maybe or an Ibiza? - probably a diesel, but what are older vag diesels like?

Enlighten me with some 10 bob motors

Get a Mk2 polo or Mk2 golf. Providing it has MoT i'd like to see you break it...

+ I got a 1.6 Corsa Sport for £700 which was an absoloute diamond to me.

I also had a 1.0 Citroen AX which was hideously slow but was also ace.

Wilson wins though... He had a Mk2 Polo. Drank petrol like it was going out of fashion, but was pretty bombproof - Until a slight mishap on a Sunday Morning...

Not many miles, like 10 a day but in a bit of traffic

You can get a sport cheaper than an sxi, harder to insure for young people. Polo sounds good, or like I said the Ibiza is similar but cheaper

How much are Mk4 polos? Could get a Denzil model of that cheapish?

For that sort of mileage i'd look at a petrol nail though and be more worried about how much MoT it's got...

One of the old mechanical 306 1.9D or DT. There's pretty much fuck all to go wrong, and I've had mine well over 4 years now and it's never broken down or gone wrong.

Mk4 is closer to £1750 than 750

Petrol one would be fine, don't really mind

Need a car for other things too, so having a bike is out of the question

I've got money tied up in a car that I hardly use, which means I don't have a lot to spend on getting my other car back onto the road. Somehow my runabout has become my main car whilst the project collects dust. I miss having my toy.

I like the coupe, really nice car, but it's too much for what I need. Petrol consumption isn't great as Im in traffic a fair bit & it just seems to guzzle fuel. 290 miles out of over £55 of fuel, I used to get twice that out of the Corsa (often more) On the motorway it's great, but I don't go on the motorways other than once a week for hockey training.
With a bit of swapping about I could have a cheap daily car & a toy to play in rather than a nice daily car that doesn't really double up as a fun weekend car.
