Just done some in response to a complaint regarding rule 6.
Post your questions here and I'm quite sure someone will be along to state the obvious.

6. Only post in advert threads if you are interested in trading. Do not make judgements on price, value or quality of goods. These decisions should be made by buyers. Conversational posts which are not directly related to a sale will be deleted, which wastes staff time.
For those not in the no.

Definately, just cause you don't like it don't slate it in his for sale thread

Basically the long and short of it is that someone had made a classified post trying to sell his car, whilst following the rules when creating the post and contained lots of useful info.
Then...... several people decided to slate the car and it got quite out of hand with some absolutely out of order comments. It's got to the point where this cant be allowed to continue and really puts people off trying to sell for fear of negative opinions and judgements.

I'd assume the fear of a ban would discourage most from turning a for sale thread into a discussion topic tbh!

Not only puts people trying to sell but also posting a pic of their car if it isn't subtly styled. Which is a shame because it's their pride and joy.

Thats the main downfall of this site. Its bullying when you think of it.

^^ to be fair, it happens on other corsa related forums in their for sale section.

Still shouldn't happen
I had this problem when I had my Astra for sale,
A guy bought one 6months before hand and told me he got his cheaper, and that mine was way overpriced
Being that his was older and in a less desireable colour, I just removed my thread and started again, but it ruins peoplesfor sale threads that dont know how to
Good call Ian

story about astra
Oh I agree totally, nothing like putting something up for sale then a bunch of people moan at you about the price and say they can get it elsewhere. I welcome the heavy hand of moderation in Classifieds.

I usuallytell them if they can get it cheaer go and get it, but 9 out of 10 times they're talking rubbish to get the price dropped
Have you's thought about the way mig run there classifieds?
U2U only, on cars for sale (no spam posts at all, if someone is serious about buying a car, they wont posts for everyone to see, the reply function is for people to chat only imo)
50posts on forum before selling (lots of for sale threads get posted on here then never visited by the author again)
Must have price & location or its deleted (stops users asking questions about this and that)

All good suggestions I will forward them onto Ian.
We already ask for a price in all posts I know that, but good suggestions nonetheless

Yep...i've had this problem in the last week. Really annoying!
Just deleted the entire thread and re-posted it to get rid of the comments!
Time-wasters really!

Fair enough.
At the meet last night, the calibra post was mentioned... for those of you that don't know what happened in it;
Somebody signed up on a calibra forum, and was selling bits off his car, the engine was going in his corsa. All the memebrs slated him for putting the engine in a corsa, and he ended up removing the bits for sale on there.
The point i'm making is that people are trying to sell their bits on here, so they're pretty much doing the site a favour. When I read the thread in classifieds I thought I was in general chat on that calibra website!
To be honest there was no need for any of the comments, If you didn't like the car then why even bother posting in his for sale thread? I've never seen the car on the site before, so i'm guessing he's been slated for it earlier at some point and is probably on a corsa c website, where he felt welcome...

Why not lock down threads so only the poster can add new posts?.
If they have all the contact details listed and u2u's a re available then I see no need for other people to add comments.
They can contact the seller directly. Works on other forums.

it would work but i found a few parts on CS doing a google search and bought before i was a member, providing a email address was part of the contact details (i believe all members get a user@corsasport.co.uk address when signing up not just Prems?) then it would be fine!
