Ive has corsas since I was 17, my first and second were sports, my second one then became a LET and then when that got wrote off I bought a GSI which is now as LET as well

Do you drive quicker with the faster engine in? Generally I think I drive more carefully and only open it up when its safe, Ive never been much of a racing round corners person but I think Im safer driving my LET than I was with either of the sports.

I just get the feeling on the motorway "Ive got nothing to prove by thrashing you" sometimes where before i might have floored it

What does everyone else think? are you faster and more dangerous than before?

My brother has had 1.4 sport & 1.4 8v SRi, and currently owns a 1.6 16v GSi and a XE with 175bhp. He drives the valver ALOT faster than all the others, so I aksed him why, he simply replied ''Theres no point thrashin a 1.4 & 1.6 imo, and theres no point sticking to the speed limit in a valver when you've spent money and stripped it to go faster''

My expericance, having a 1.4 & a 1.6 sport, I drove the 1.6 alot faster too.

It did land me in court about this time last year when an undercover cop car got me on the motorway (empty motorway, 10.30 at night) but Ive never really gone mad in it round corners

I drive fast, nearly all the time. Cruise on the motorway at speeds that I shouldn't. If I see a dual-carrigeway i'll accelerate past people.

Keep an eye out when i'm on the motroway etc though, watching all the bridges and what's behind. If I come on at night i'll let the first few cars come past me before I decide whether it's safe to accelerate.

Bad Weather, Time of day and where I am (Built up areas, Schools etc) slows me down however. Now I can't afford to get caught out because of my job.

I've spent a lot of time learning the characteristics of the Corsa, and treated it as a new car and something I wasn't used to when the valver was fitted. I'm the same when I change the suspension or other parts (I'm not talking headlight bulbs ) and even change the tyres will make me check the car still behaves how I want it to.

I'm not the perfect driver - Far from it. But to me, the risks are more the people i'm on the road with, and not my own style of driving.

It's also because of the car, I don't drive the sport or my work car like it.

I used to drive the Corsa like a cunt. I drive an XE calibra at the moment and I like giving it some shit every now and again but I don't thrash it everywhere.

I've found myself driving really slow in standard cars because it's fun being a normal person and holding everyone up

To be honest I drive more of a tool in the diesel, I slowed down loads in the LET especially after snapping a cv joint at 140mph+ and nearly killing myself.

Oh an XE's are seriously slow, used to think they were fast when I was 18 but you soon get used to it.
