Your insurance is void if you do not declare and you might aswell not take any out.

Well its simple isnt it. Its fraud. Could be fine, or if you hurt someone could face prison.

I no its OTT but that what could happen has fraud is a serious crime

I've never been stopped and had the police look under the bonnet, but I know plenty of people who'd be more than happy to report you if they knew you hadn't declared it.

End of the day it's not just you that could be affected by it.

tbh its not worth it, although a copper has never popped my bonnet to look they do know by how it goes that its not standard. I always say "before you ask officer everything is declared" and im more than happy for them to do too a check for this at the road side (not that you have a choice)

Then what happened? Did you let him?

I have insured my car as a 2.0. No point with the hassle otherwise. Could get into pretty hot water for not having a car insured correctly!

one of the reason's i've waited so long to fit mine, as i've not been able to afford the insurance, due to no job, so the engine's just been sat in garage collecting dust while i tootle about in a 1.2

" i havent had time to change it on the log book" thats only because they wasnt goin to and they dont want to pay the extra 4 the insurance

DECLARE ALL. No ifs/buts/maybes. not worth it. May as well not have insurance. The car will normally have the insurance based on the donor vehicle.

people who dont declare conversions are dicks tbh. I was paying £1900 at 19 yrs old with 1 yrs no claims, with every single mod and conversion declared.

Its really easy to change over on the log book too. Took me 10 mins at the DVLA office to declare my engine swop. I'm insured with Adrian Flux, and they were spot on with it all too.

Best to declare it all and do it properly to save you worrying about it.

I will declare my engine swap but I want to know what kind of insurance price to expect. I won't have any trouble insuring as I have 9 yrs ncb, never had a bump or a claim against me.

Fill in the info on the V5 and send it off to the DVLA for a new V5.
