I've noticed over the last month i've had an irregular heart beat the day after a piss up. freaked me out at first. it'll be fine for 4 or 5 beats then it'll miss 1 or 2 and then start again.
it is definately alcohol that causes it as i had flu last week so layed off the drink and it was fine.
anyone ever experienced this?
i've got a doctors appointment tomorrow so hopefully he can shed some light on it.
hope they dont order me to stop drinking!

My mate had to quit bozzing and recreational drugs he had similar.
Had a monitor on for ages and then went in for an operation. He's ok now as far as I know and this was 3+ years ago.

Not as far as i know,he was born with the hole in his heart, always had problems with it,but the constant boozing and drugs couldnt of helped.
But still a shock for someone so young to have a heart attack.at the time i was confused to fuck i always thought only old people can have haart attacks, how wrong was i
Least he had a good 18 years always off it dies six years ago now but stillthink off him off his chunk dancing with the birds when im out

An irregular heartbeat is called atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter and is due to the heart pumping blood less efficiently, allowing blood to pool within its chambers and may lead to the formation of a blood clot. A blood clot may block the flow of blood to the brain and cause a stroke, and also be a causative factor in CAD/CHD (coronary artery diesease/coronary heart disease). Therefore why it's been linked to increasing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. Alcohol is linked to the increased risk of a stroke because heavy drinking is associated with high blood pressure and atrial fibrilation. And high BP is the single most important risk factor for strokes as well as heart attack and heart disease (including CAD, CHD, atherosclerosis etc etc).
If you go to the doctors are tell him the truth about how much you drink, what you drink and how often etc, they will probably just tell you to cut down on your consumption ie: not binge drink and cunsume over your ecommended units per week all the space of one night

Yeh I find my heart is fucking pumping after a night out, especially when I was hammered or had red bull, or tried to 'dodge it' with some berocca tablet night before too
think it's just my body working overload to shift the alcohol... get the shakes too.

Do you take any recreational drugs whilst out on the drink? A mate of mine quite liked a dabble with coke when he was out on the drink and developed a very similar set of symptoms
